Introduction/Preamble: “First Tracks” is an expression recognized
by all serious Skiers/Boarders that signifies the Sweet Desirability
and Anticipation of a New Day, or in this case, a New Season.
This article is dedicated to not only those who place a high value
on the tradition of attending for the “New Season”, but it’s also
for everyone else who understands the significance of how
the Opening Days Sequence can positively effect the quickness
of Open Terrain Development from that point forward.
In that regard, we are including a link below as a Cross-reference
to our Winter Seasonal Weather Outlook for 2017/18
Now, back to Nov. 2017 Chronology...

“Weather Underground” includes precipitation forecast at the Summit,
which you will see represented as snowfall icons below:
Post-Squall Event Weather Model:
The Net Results...
Not Only Did Snow Squalls Cover Tremblant...
48 hours later, due to the supporting Sub-Zero Temps,
we can safely say... “It Stuck”!
Of all the outcomes from Pre-Season, Opening Day Co-Factors,
the one we like the best is illustrated by the first of the
Snowmaking and Weather Observations shown below.
Versant Nord, North Side, Base Level Snowmaking on
Beauchemin Bas, Lower, to the Loading Dock of the Duncan Quad.
The reason we like this Base Level Snowmaking the most is
that it is not common to every seasons opening, i.e., there’s
always snow on the Summit for Opening Day, but not always
Ski-Out to either Sud, South, or Nord, North Base Levels.
(We know for a fact that there are Versant Nord fans who
only come out when they can access the Mountain from
the North-Side Base Station. Some seasons, that may not
happen for an undetermined, "weather permitting" period
that can be anything from days to weeks. Consequently, Nord Base
Mountain access is an important stage in seasonal development,
so if it is possible this year, it represents an automatic
head-start on all metrics of both access and square area
of Open Terrain.)
In the last 10 seasons openings, only 2(?) have had Summit
to Base Sud, Nord, Full Ski-out Vertical.
Mountain Crews are not in the habit of wasting time, labour or
financial resources, so this very evident commitment of huge
logistical support for initial Summit to Base Skiable Terrain is
one of the very best, completely positive, indicators of a rare
abundance of potentially available terrain for Opening Day of
Winter Alpine Ski Season 2017/18.
Moving Forward....

until Opening Day.

edit order may not be. Refresh Frequently for additions.)
