T360 Early Apres Ski Edit Under Construct @ 5:27 P.M.

After The Temp’s Dropped...

Any Concerns About Tremblant Performance Today
Can Be Set Aside When You See This:

11.26.17 T360 Proof Of Performance

There were Large Tracts, Portions of Trails and Complete Trails
that were all similar to above.

On an overall basis, Mountain Crews did a wonderful job of rendering
out very consistent shred depth over nearly all the Open Terrain.
Given the factors of pre-existing moisture content and dropping
temperatures, their efforts certainly did produce very positive
results.

As we wrote in our expectations this morning, there were some icy bits,
but we must say, they were smaller and fewer that we thought might happen.

There were also portions that were just really solid, very dense Snow.
At High Speed, some of those areas may have felt icy underfoot,
but chances are they only felt that way to those with dull edges.

There were some Beginners who were challenged by surfaces today,
but that’s an inherent part of learning a gravity powered sport that’s
performed outdoors on a Snow Covered Mountain... at least it was
all smooth, so just a matter of taking time to make safe, even if
sometimes slow descents, with deliberate care.

There was Sunshine in small, passing amounts.
Nice to see that....

There were Open Trails under Snowmaking, but with the cool temp’s,
that did not affect vision too much as the falling snow was quite well
crystallized and dry, long before it landed on the ground.

The above pic's were taken yesterday at just after 3:00P.M. as the Cloud/Fog began
to move off the Summit. By that time the top level temp had risen to +1 degree C
for 20 minutes, and almost as quickly, dropped back below zero C to -1.

Today, the Laws of Physics apply, and considering it’s now -5 C or so at the Sud, South
Resort Base, there will probably be some icy bits in the mix of Surface conditions.

Explorations should be undertaken with caution and care to confirm
safe passage Before you go ripping around.

The softness of the past 2 days has been accompanied with tremendous speed
and glide. That combination created a very large sense of confidence in reliable
edge grip that you can see in this shot below, taken on Nord, North, Beauchemin
Bas, Lower.

As a result of the temp. drop we think the Skiing is going to be more
technical today. From the standpoint that todays absence of yesterdays
softness(that you could literally bank your turns on), will not be there
to the same degree, control/edging will need to be more gradually
applied in order to retain turning forces along the weight bearing sides
of your running edge(s) of Skis or Board.

Conditions Notes:

There are multiple factors that may possibly effect initial conditions today
beginning with the new, overnight snowfall. Not a lot, but non-the-less,
any amount can have an effect on surface friction or grip. Secondly,
the timing of last nights Grooming shift, depending on how that relates
to the degree of refroze when grooming occurs. Our theory is that the
Grooming outcomes seem to result in better performing Top Layer
looseness when the Grooming is done well after refroze. If the surfaces
are already solid when the Tiller chews through them, they stay remarkably
granular throughout the following day. If the refreeze happens after Grooming
the result can be solid Corduroy.

Of course Mother Nature plays a huge roll in this timing because the coolest
hours of the night tend to be at somewhere around 4:00 a.m. to 7:00 a.m.
and depending on where that is relative to Zero C, it may not be physically
possible to do the Grooming after the coolest point. In this case, we saw the
Summit go Sub-Zero by 3:30, so we think there’s a very good chance that
Post-Froze Grooming will have generated very useable softer top layers of
fine granular quality.

The one thing that we do expect, because it has become more and more
common, is Smoothness. For the vast majority of Thermal drops, Tremblant
Mountain Op’s have given us “Smooth” which makes handling any other
factors so much easier. No one can do anything about the weather, but
having a Smooth Base when there are any “Solid” surfaces, makes it
infinitely easier for everyone, especially for Beginners and Intermediates.

Snow Report Below!

Weather Notes:

Please Note: We’re showing the hourly portion as a later excerpt
in order to highlight the Snowfall forecasted for this eve. One of
the best elements of this forecasted snow arrival is the moderate
wind velocity from the West/Sou-West, that could generate some beneficial
drifting at, and over the Summit, particularly in the Lowell Thomas
sector. Beyond that one specific extra possibility, we expect the whole
Mountain to see Trail accumulations at these moderate wind speeds
with a direction that should basically be coming up over Taschereau
and crossing the Summit towards Lowell T and Beauchemin.

The balance of the 2 week outlook shows very near to average Fall
temps at the Resort Base level, so up on the Mountain we expect
the usual coolness to prevail for very easy early season conditions
with night-time lows that should be great for Snowmaking and
Open Terrain expansion.

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

GoTo: Archive, Search Reports by Date: Index: http://tinyurl.com/yktelmu

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.)
