24(*) Open Trails on the Sud, South, Nord, North, PLUS...
New Open Nord Sector Lowell Thomas, at #Tremblant
Big, Big, Big... Really, Really BIG Day
Of Critical Importance at Tremblant!
(To be followed by dedicated Apres Ski Pictorial This Eve. @ Approx. 21:00Hrs)
Lowell Thomas Sector... Open!
Nansen Bas, Lower... Open!
Firstly... News of the Lowell Thomas Sector Opening is usually the first
major Multi-Trail zone to come on-line on an Over-night basis
due to the number of trails required to complete descent path(s)
to the Beauchemin at Lowell Thomas Triple Chair Base.
Here’s a sample of the Prep. work that could be seen from a Nord, North,
Beauchemin, Haut, Upper descent as you passed by, at Last Run yesterday.
We think you’ll find this, and all the other trails needed here, to be at
finished levels of smoothness equal to all the other Open Trails. However,
there is the possibility you could find mixed particle sizes for a day to two
as traffic and one or two overnight Grooming cycles integrate the snow
through active service.
11.29.17.Nord.North.Beauchemin.Views.Lowell.T.Sector.La.Traverse.Rough.Cut.Grooming.f.jpg
We’ve observed huge amounts of Mountain Op’s efforts here, ever since
Opening Day and there could be no doubt that it was going to be “Soon”,
there’s just way too much Snow in this area to expect otherwise.
Secondly... Nansen Bas, Lower OPEN!!!
We have written extensively over the years about the critical importance of
Nansen Bas, Lower to the efficient, effective Traffic Flow enhancement to all
Versant Sud, South Side Descent Paths because it essentially removes most
of the Beginner and a lot of Intermediate Skill Level Traffic from the Complex
Multi-Trail/Multi-Pitch, Converging Intersection at the TGV Quad Base Zone.
This is Brilliant Effort On The Part Of Mountain Op’s Crews!
Bravo, Tremblant!!!
11.29.17 Apres Ski Nansen Bas, Lower, Trail Opening Preparations...
This Will Be As Smooth As Interstate/AutoRoute/Motorway
Highway Standards This Morning!
By providing an Alternate, Easy, “Green” Descent path to the Sud, South, Resort Base,
this single, simple, Trail Opening simultaneously elevates “User Friendly”
and All-Day Surface Quality For All Skill Levels, and on All Versant Sud, South
Side, Bas, Lower Descents. Period.
ADDITIONALLY: Beginners, Intermediates and any other interested parties,
Now Have A Single 6 Kilometre Descent Path To Practice On.
The value of Nansen as a Summit-To-Base Descent Can Not Be Overstated.
Nansen is a “Marquis” Tremblant Trail with a Pedigree of Excellence since 1939.
Moving Forward...

Other Conditions Notes:
Yesterday was a bit Icy because the temps dropped to Sub-Zero after
the Mountain Opened, but big overnight Grooming should get all back
to normal, starting Now. This is a repeat from 4:30 A.M. on Opening
Day, but we’re putting a new Title on it. This is EXACTLY what’s been going
on all night at Tremblant from Last Run yesterday to First Tracks this morning.
“Chew This...Icy.Fix’d.jpg"
The only other thing you can do is run with Sharp, Tuned, Edges.
If possible, those fresh edges should be attached to Skis or Board
with significant torsional rigidity to maximize lateral grip.
In our case, we have an old, but very low use, set of FIS/SL 158’s @ 12.5 Turn Radius.
These old race Skis Eat “Icy” for breakfast... They’ll hold an edge on a Hockey Rink,
and they make what might be considered marginal conditions, fun again.
They were only a wee bit over 100Bucks on an Internet Trading Site, so
a very inexpensive way to cope with any days that have “Firm” surfaces.
Weather Notes:
24(*) Open Trails on the Archival Copy of Official Open Trails,

In Our Observational Opinion...
Tremblant is a Minimum of 10 Days ahead of 20 year average Schedules
in outright logistical placement, and... 10 days to two weeks ahead of
those same 20 year averages in Overall Trail Surface Quality metrics.
“Super Season” Predictions are well on the way to reality... Now.
