T360 Apres Ski Late Eve. Edit @ 10:30 P.M.

Everything was Excellent.

For the First of December, Tremblant is like an early Christmas Gift.

You’ve seen the package before, but if you unwrapped it today,
the unexpected surprise is beyond anything you thought it
might normally contain.

Extraordinary, Exquisite.

In addition to the combination of Fresh New Snow and Refinements of
Overnight Grooming, the Open Trail List increased by 2 during the day to
include Rope Tow and the Versant Nord, North Side Park.

As a progressive review of yesterday’s Lowell Thomas Sector Opening
we went back and this time, used La Traverse as a run-out to Beauchemin.
What we found was exactly as expected. Much smaller/finer Snow particle
size, mixed with fresh snow, altogether resulting in a noticeable level up in
the overall Trail finish.

Tomorrow, Sat., Dec. 2, is supposed to have a daytime high
of +2C at Sud, South Resort Base. With the projected overnight
low of -6C tonight, that could firm things up for First Tracks,
with gradual softening starting to be noticeable around 10:30 A.M.
The Nord, North Side, should experience less variation, but could
remain overall “firm”. Keep in mind, “Firm” does not necessarily
mean Icy, it usually means very densely packed snow. We have
seen quite a bit of this Firmness with recent Thermal Swings Up/Down
and we’ve been very fortunate to have Mountain Crews chew the
majority of it up every night.

We may even see some New Trail Openings for the Weekend, but
we could also understand if Mountain Op’s was holding some reserve
for the Lead-up to the 24Hour Children’s Charity Fundraiser. There
is quite a bit of Snowmaking support shown on the Official Snow Report,
but we’ll have a lot better picture of progress in that department in
the Morning... See you then!

24(*) Open Trails On Sud, South and Nord, North Sectors at #Tremblant .

Unless You Were Here,

You Have No Idea How Much Fun This Is...

Just imagine you’ve been Magically Zapped into the middle of Winter.

Historically High Amounts Of Open Trial Terrain.

Historically High Levels Of Opening Quality.

Below: This is an Impressionistic Photograph.(#)
It is not in perfect focus, but if your eye registers the smoothness
and evenness of the running Snow Surface, it’s 100% accurate.

In Case You Think We’re Too “Positive”...

Please Forgive Our Enthusiasm...

...so, lets take a quick look at a Tremblant360 Data Point
to help illustrate why we’re so positive.

On a purely anecdotal basis, if we published this photo below of the Summit
entrance to the Lowell Thomas Trail on January 22nd(as a random reference),
no one would doubt the authenticity, especially given the amount of Snow
in the Trail-side bush. But Of Course, that’s not the case, it is the 30th of
November and it is Tremblant right now, with conditions we legitimately
feel are “Historic” on all metric accounts.

We’d like to point out the physical presence of substantial Trail-Side snow
in this Sector that is the consequence of Wind Generated Drifting over the
Summit with frequent Sou-West winds that push snow over the top where it
“Back-Fills” this entire upper portion of the Mountain. We expect this beneficial
pattern to extend throughout the entire Winter.

(#) Photography (is)has been extremely challenging with
Grey, Overcast, Low Definition, Low Contrast, sometimes
Snowy, Cloudy, and/or Foggy Filtered ambient Light Qualities
that can "all or some”, happen simultaneously. Pro Photographers
may only choose to work or publish stock from the best or
ideal light conditions, but for documenting “daily", "as it happens",
we have no such choice. Additionally, Grey, Overcast, etc., may
be poor Pic.light, but can frequently be Excellent for Ski Conditions,
especially the “Snowy” part. We periodically use imperfect Pic’s
when they are capable of accurate impressions because sometimes
the imperfections actually highlight the point.

Below: Appearances Can Be Slightly Deceiving...(A and B)

A) In this case, sample shot Nord, North, Rigodon, as part of the
Lowell Thomas descent path, appears to have what Day 1 on any
Newly Opened Trail might be referred to a “Golf Balls” sized
particles which can be ground up Icy bits. They were not Icy at all.
They were all snow, all soft and all mush-able while either Skidding
Parallel Turns or Ripping Carved Turns.

B) Here is another similar example from Nansen Bas, Lower, during
yesterdays Opening. Same as above, it may look like solid “Golf Balls”,
but they were just small Snow clumps that would break up instantly
when you Skied over or through them.

Traffic and Overnight Grooming should reduce these, but they are only
“Cosmetic” to begin with and at no time did they inhibit any Ski function.

All the Newly Opened Terrain yesterday had the very best possible performance
and we think it will only evolve to be better today and onward.

Weather Notes:

With Sud, South Base Level Temp’s floating around the Zero C
mark, there could be numerous differences between Elevated
Mountain heights. Based on yesterdays Very Fine Conditions
however, we think the near-to-warm should produce softness
as an overall ambient characteristic PLUS... the Official 7cm’s of
New Snow should be a substantial asset.

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

GoTo: Archive, Search Reports by Date: Index: http://tinyurl.com/yktelmu

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.)
