In the Mean-time...

The Open Trail Count is down this morning as Mountain Crews
are working around the clock to restore Top Layer functionality
to surfaces that were exposed to yesterdays “+” temps and
sleety/rainy mix, and are now solid with the drop in temps.

This Open number could possibly change during the day, and
should change quite a bit overnight, tonight.

Mountain Guests need to be patient for the moment as this
process is undertaken.

Fortunately, last nights Grooming Shift will have rendered good
Skiing on the Open Terrain with a focus on the Greens like Nansen
and P’tit Bonheur. All the Skiing/Boarding today will most likely be
“Technical” in the sense that Edge-Set will respond best to gradually
applied force in Braking and Turning in order to take advantage of
Top Layers that are less than average in depth.

Conditions Notes:

Our observations after these types of weather events is that
Mountain Crews have a priority for “Smooth”, meaning that
we’ve seen more attention applied to a Default of Groomed
Flat for almost everything. No One can do anything about the
weather, but this is a huge Post-Froze advantage because
smooth as a starting place, makes everything else easier to deal with.

Caution with Speed in all initial explorations is essential. Verify
safe passage before zipping around.

There Could Be Icy Zones In The Mix.

IF POSSIBLE... Use the Correct Tools For The Job.(Sample Below(**))

Those Tools Include:

A) Fresh Sharp Edges on Whatever Gear You Own.
B) If Possible, Competition Level Skis/Board With Race Level
Torsional Rigidity and Fresh Sharp Edges.

(**)Expert Utility Tip.
The skis pictured above are an older pair of Atomic FIS Racing Slalom Skis @
158cm’s X 12.5 M.TR that we got off an Internet Trading Site for roughly $100.00.
They only had about 10 Race Days on them, so they’re not as stiff as new
ones, and all the cosmetic scratches and marks on the Top Sheets are 95%
from being bounced around with other Skis in an SUV Roof-Top Ski Cargo Box.
They Eat Icy For Breakfast... and hold a Razor Edge of Titanium.
On days when the Mountain is recovering from a Mother Nature Thermal
Burp, they Ski as if it was a Nice Mid-Winter Day.

For those regional regulars who want to be able to Ski anything, we
recommend an Option like this for “Firm” Surfaces Utility.

Weather Notes:

The Most Important Thing With This Two Week Forecast Is The Predicted
Consistency Of Multi-Day Sub-Zero Temps Combined With Natural Snowfall.

Our Forecast is that if this materializes as indicated, you will see
dramatic increases in Quality and Quantity of Open Terrain in the next
two weeks due to the Day-To-Day Temperature Stability.

Add in all the days with Snowfall Forecast Icons and this could
end up being a truly Spectacular Christmas Ski/Board Holiday Season!

Winter Is Racing Back To Tremblant
and by the look of the forecast, it’s
going to be a Great Basis for Near-Term
Terrain Development.

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

GoTo: Archive, Search Reports by Date: Index: http://tinyurl.com/yktelmu

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.)
