We Could Be Wrong, However, The Combination Of Forecasted Co-Factors
Including Ski/Board Conditions and Weather, suggest a very high probability
for Tomorrow to be a truly exceptional day.

This is the best Theory we can think of to explain it...
Rising temp’s within double-digit Sub-Zero Ranges with snowfall typically
produce very high rates of traction as the increased level of internal
humidity in the “Warmer” falling snow hits the Super Cool Base
where it can instantly bond. This can result in a cushion that effectively
generates a reliable “Banking” effect because of the way the first fallen snow
seems to adhere to the Base.

The “Banking” effect is a natural enhancement to any pure Carving
technique where the arch of the carved ski(s) possess a completely
supported running contact patch along 100% of its entire longitudinal edge.

The Low Mountain Traffic of Post-Holiday, Mid-First-Week January
implies the All-Day Surface Quality, particularly the Groomed, and
recently Groomed. If all 96 of 96 Trails are Open again, then there
may be frequent times when you are the only Human in view.

96(*) Open Trails On The Coldest Day Of The Year at #Tremblant !

“The Coldest Day Of The Year” Is A Dubious Distinction To Be Sure...

We are not sure how long this Record will stand considering the “Year” is only
37 hours old, but it is possible we will not see this again for the next 364 days?

Lets Hope So!

However we may Hope for “Warmer” every single day from now on,
as you will see below(Post Under Construct, Image to Follow), it is
also possible today will not be the record.

On a Long-Term Positive Note...

In the Mean-Time, Every Single Morning at these low temps is a Bonus
for the Durability and Quality Of The Season because of the Mountains
ability to absorb and store Frost within a lower Core Temperature that
will be “Thaw Resistant” when the “Heat” arrives towards Spring.

If you did not know what Temperature it was out there, the pic. above would
be regarded by every single Skier and Boarder on the Planet as indicative of
“Great” Ski/Board Conditions.

and...

Notwithstanding the Actual Temperature out there, the conditions are clinically
Excellent.

Of course, what separates the difference between “Great Conditions” and “Use”
is the ability of Humans to adapt on any functional level to capably maintain
safe levels of personal internal heat within garment systems that protect us
from truly extreme cold.

Within that concept, it could further be said that there could be greater
comfort and safety in garment systems that may have less insulation
value, but have better seals, because insulation is nothing without proper
seals to keep whatever “Warm" you have inside.

That is where the critical factors lie today. Eliminating even the tiniest gaps
will be arguably more important than the outright padding because “Air Speed”
on Descents will pressurize Razor Cold Air into spaces you never thought would
be possible. Of Course Again, it almost goes without saying that you need both
insulation and seals, but Seals are definitely the “Devils Detail” that will separate
comfort from discomfort today if all other things are equal.

Versant Soleil, Guest Pic.File and Review/Notes:

"Snow blow is definitely decreasing visibility at the summit.
We're about to start down Toboggan in this one. Loved that run!
A little further down the hill the visibility was perfect, and we
were in a beautiful patch of sunshine. Sparkle wonderland!!"

"Sunshine and spectacular views on the Toboggan .
At 2 pm there's still plenty of supercooled powder
and no waiting at Soleil. In the few scraped spots
I've found my fresh Wintersteiger edges have dug in
like skates."

Very important to note in the immediate above, the reference to
“Fresh Wintersteiger Edges” which is directly supportive of one
of the points we think is absolutely critical to optimize safe
Mountain Utility, Tuned Edges Make The Difference! In this case,
the Fresh Tune was a suggestion we made the previous day
while discussing the desirability of greater “Grip” performance
over some of the “Firm” surfaces. The Tuneup was performed
by “The Ski Shop” at the Chalet des Voyageurs, and by the
written account of above, was quite successful at rendering
renewed Board Performance.

Our Grateful Thanks to DM and MWA for the Great Pic’s
and Feedback over the last few days. We really appreciate
that!

Tremblant Park Fans Take Note:

Basic L Kicker's In Place on Adrenaline Park @ Flying Mile.

We think this is kind of a cool Super-Zoom shot. If you look closely,
you can see we managed to capture a Jumper, just off the Top Kicker
and you can see the edge of the persons shadow on the lip of the jump.
This is a 65X Optical Zoom from an estimated 4 kilometres away, taken
from a Hill-Side POV in Old Mt. Tremblant Village.

Extreme Temp’s Warrant Extreme Caution and Micro-Attention
to Garment System Outer Seals. Cold Air migration through
outer layers could literally Bite, as in “Frostbite” you in ways
that can have long term effects. Human Skin Surfaces that
get Frostbite damage once, can be more prone to damage
and sensitivity for any future exposures.
