The analogue thermometer on the deck outside touched
-30C just before sunrise. Not much you can say as the
return of the cold weather has once again extended over
much of Eastern North America.

At least the forecast indicates it will be brief, as in today and
tomorrow remaining, so we can only look at the clinical bright
side which is that any “Cold” re-stabilizes the Groomed Alpine
Trail Network after the recent and very short January thaw.

Conditions Notes:

The thermal effects of the thaw 48 hours ago will seem
smaller or less due to the benefit of last nights Grooming
that adds another step in rendering even smoothness over
every surface the machines cover.

It is inevitable however, that Icy bits will be encountered.
The new snowfall of yesterday morning was delivered in
a “Breezy” context, so there have been areas that were
in a facing orientation that have lower retention and there
are also areas that were in sheltered orientation that
kept more. The complexity is that swirling wind over
random topography may generate differences that are
both localized, as in around the next bend, or over the
next crest, as well as generally over one sector or another.

---------- Conditions Caveat ------------

What that means is... you need to explore carefully within
“Line Of Sight” navigational rules on all initial descents.

If you can’t see the surface over the next crest, you need
to slow down before ripping over the top because there is
the possibility that traction below the visible line may not
be the same as it is within immediate sight.

The vast majority of long sight lines should be very fine,
but as usual, it can be those brief localized glitches that
can cause “Incidents” that you don’t want to be affected by.

Pay Attention To Ski Patrol Hand Posted Signage. They mean
exactly what they say and should not be by-passed or ignored.

Today Is Another Day That Could See Increases
In Open Trails during Open Hours.

The Open Trails took a nice little bump upwards yesterday
and we think that could happen again today. This is another
reason to observe your surroundings as trails that may have
had ropes over the entrances last run, may be Opened by the
Ski Patrol at any given moment. This is a natural part of the
current dynamic, and a reminder that the pre-existing Base
has come through quite intact.

(Please Note: This Revised data received one additional Open Trail
on Versant Nord, North Side, #74, “Short Cut”, bringing the final
End-Of-Day number to 74(*))

-------------------------------------------------------------

The level of refinement rises incrementally every day
in a post-thermal sequence of Night-Shift Grooming cycles.
We respectfully submit that this process happens more
rapidly at Tremblant than at any of it’s regional peers.
We call it “The Quickness Of Quality”, and today will
be a Spectacularly Sunny Example!

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

GoTo: Archive, Search Reports by Date: Index: http://tinyurl.com/yktelmu

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.)
