T360 Middle Of The Night Shift Apres Ski @ 2:36 A.M.

In our opinion, it did not warm up at Mountain Elevations as much
as the forecast might have allowed for.

The Sun came out and so while it may have been a few degrees
below expectations, the overall enhancement of a bright afternoon
seemed to register in all the faces of those attending. Basically,
everyone looked happy!

Cooler may have meant Faster.

We think the coolness, such as it was just below zero C,
helped keep the crisp speed in the surfaces.

It continues to be Technical Skiing where precise
and gently applied control movements are most effective
at efficiently retaining turning energy. The Icy bits have
been vastly reduced, however there are some lingering
solid substrates that continue to appear. They are all
marked by the Ski Patrol, so as long as you observe
the restricted zones, you should be fine.

As usual, Park Fans continue to enjoy modules
that are meticulously maintained.

The Temp’s are Dropping... but not into the “uncomfortable” zone
with the overnight low at -16C, -14C by 9:00A.M. and a daytime
high for tomorrow at -8C by 1:00 P.M.

The best part of tomorrows forecast is the combination of Sun
and very low Nor-East winds rising up over the Mountain above
P’tit Bonheur.

We expect Traffic will be light, so if you’re lucky enough
to be out for it, you may feel as though you have the place
to yourself.

It’s A Good Thing That...

Humans Are Inherently Fascinated By Exploration...

because that’s the Mind-Set you need to have in order
to make the best of Conditions at this point in time.

(**)The Reasons Are “Tipping Points”.

The close proximity of Sud, South Resort Base Level Temp’s
to Zero.C has generated numerous Temperature/Conditions
Tipping Points over Tremblant’s cooler Mountain Elevations that
make for highly variable and daily unique surface conditions within
the Open Trail Array.

The complexity of the mix is additionally variable within the day,
due to Sun or Overcast, with Big Facing Wind or No Facing Wind,
Snow or “Other” precipitations, More Traffic or Less Traffic, Grooming,
Retained Frost in the Base, the temp’s either rising or lowering, and
whatever other legitimate factors you can think of that might exist.

And That’s Only One Side Of The Story...

The “Other” Side of the Story is the complex make-up of
each Mountain Guest’s Abilities, Preferences and Equipment
Status, that can all effect the utilization of the Mountains
physical state at any given hour.

What’s The Point?

"For Best Results...(a)” you need to Explore Tremblant carefully and
with responsible speed and control to find those “Sweet Spots”
or “Sweet Sectors” that work for your particular particular suitability.

"For Best Results...(b)” you need to explore Tremblant
carefully and responsibly with Tuned Edges on Skis/Board
for optimized control over variable surfaces.

Here’s a sort-of cool, but out of phocus photo
we got while taking the Beauvallon Pic. above...

Check out the Phuzzy Aerodynamics you can see on the
phurry collar and cuffs of this Super Fast and Expert Skilled
person descending on Beauvallon Haut, Upper. Neat!

In most others we try like this, the majority are not useable,
but occasionally, select ones like this specific one will stand out
because of the “Impression” they accurately convey about some
element of the image, in this case, “Speed”!

As Amateur Photographers...

An Impossible Shot. We have about a 98% failure rate
with “Long Shots”, super huge zooms that are taken
from a moving chair lift traveling over bouncy Tower
Cable Wheels while swinging at the same time, so when
we took this picture below we actually had close to Zero
expectations it would turn out.(##)

Through nothing other than pure Luck, we managed
to get this X65 Optical Zoom(roughly 1200mm Tele-equivalent)
shot, reaching all the way to the Summit Level of Trail #55,
Versant Nord, North Side, Jasey-Jay Anderson, yesterday off the
bouncing Duncan Quad, just below the Vanier pass-over, and to our
even greater surprise(X2), it’s in close to perfect focus, and, there in
the lower Frame-Left corner is “Bonus" a Racer On Course!

If you scroll the image over, you’ll see the Duncan Quad Cable running
through the very top little corner of the extreme upper right corner of
the frame.

Practical Photography Note: A current DSLR with 1200mm
Telephoto lens is HUGE and weighs a TON. Very Impractical
to Ski with and deploy. That’s why we use a Canon SX-60-HS.
Current Internet forum platforms don’t support really big Multi-MB
pic.files, so that’s another reason for having a camera that’s
more or less, more closely matched to the medium the pic’s are
rendered to. Moral of this story is that for a Quickly composed
Journal du Jour like this, it’s far more important to be able to cover
a lot of ground and get a lot of Near-To-Far(24mm-1200mm zoom range)
reaching pics than be weighted down by a huge load that takes a long
time to set up for a single image. We apologize to any Pro-Photographers
for the lack of sophisticated images, but for us, we need to shoot on the
go, with very rapid locational changes and so-far this is the best
compromise we’ve found.

(##) Why would you even make the effort if your failure rate
was 98% to begin with? Simple, because Humans are naturally
optimistic about taking chances and the satisfaction of beating
overwhelming odds is 98% Joy!

Weather Notes:

We’re running a later 12hour daily graphic here to
indicate the cooling trend that will commence this
evening.

A further look at the 14 Forecast shows a fairly
consistent return to Winter Sub-Zeros and as a
result, we would anticipate a period of stable base
conditions that should allow Mountain Crews to
achieve expanded refinement within Open, Groomed
Terrain.

We think the 14 Forecast Model offers Regional Tremblant Fans
a planning opportunity for getting out to enjoy a period of
Pure Winter Conditions that won’t have much in the way of
Thermal interference, so performance should be increasingly
elevated across the Open Array with daily Grooming Cycles.

Generally, Conditions are going to be Very Fine and
Improving during the day, due to closeness to ZeroC
temp’s during Open Hours.
