T360 Very Quick Middle Of The Night Shift Apres Ski Edit @ 2:42 A.M.
Short Apres Ski, Lots More in Morning, but a very interesting day
with some Good Technical Skiing and Great Inherent Speed.
The consistent depth of Loose Top layers increased and by extension,
so did the quality of performance.
Simply put, generally, you could make and keep more edge-set.
For Tomorrow...
Very complex Weather factors Tonight that include
Freezing Rain and New Snowfall. We really do have
to wait for the morning to see how things end up.
Temps currently right at Zero C for Sud, South, Resort Base.

Thank Goodness For “North”, As The Benefits Of Latitude
Have Blessed Tremblant With The Reserves to Restore Winter.
2.22.18.Summit.Taschereau.Sunny.Last.Run.Colours.Of.Fun.jpg
We have it on Very Good Authority that the number of
Continuous Man And Machine Hours being Invested into
the Current Restoration of Groomed Terrain is the longest
Around-The-Clock Effort Ever Undertaken by Mountain Op’s.
One of the main reasons they can do that is that the reserves
of Snow and supporting Ground Frost are there to begin with.
This is exactly the moment we are most thankful for all those
long past, really Kkkool Overnight’s of Winter’s deepest temp’s.
This is a prime example of the capability of this Mountains immense
mass of Cold-Storage to act as a barrier against the warm/wet spikes
that can happen.
Everywhere you look...
The Evidence Speaks For Itself...
2.22.18.Ptit.Bonheur.Always.Prime.Family.Time.Views.Over.Lowell.Thomas.Triple.c.jpg
In scenario’s like this we often write: “Froze" is way better than “Gone”.
“Froze” can be worked on, “Gone”, especially when daytime temp’s are
floating around Zero C, is often impossible to get back.
The surface characteristics are certainly Granular in overall quality,
and the Base is certainly very very firm, but that’s just fine with us
because it’s the best possible position to be in to move forward towards
tomorrow, and the balance of the season.
If nothing else, the conditions are consistent. Once you get a handle
on the initial effort and how to best use surfaces, there is great similarity
over the Mountains whole footprint.
And It’s Not Just Out On The Trails Either...
There’s Loads of Resources To Keep Big Air Alive!
2.22.18.Big.Air.From.Big.Work.Adrenaline.Park.Under.Construction.d.jpg
This Snapshot below, taken from the Lowell Thomas Triple Chair riding up
over the crest at the Lowell T/Rigodon/La Traverse Intersection, was
a “Long Shot” in more ways than one. It’s way far from ideal on
many levels, and we were going to toss it for those reasons, but after
long consideration, we decided to keep it because it’s impressions of
Action and Speed as well as its joy in the moment for the Kidz who
are always having fun no matter the weather, say a lot about the
irrepressible Spirit of Winter at Tremblant.
2.22.18.Nord.North.Rope.Tow.Park.Lower.P.S.Kicker.Airborne.Snow.Sunlit.Skis.b.jpg
Obviously, the wind was pushing a lot of snow around, the Long Telephoto
is blurry from the swinging Chair Lift bouncing around, the exposure is
way off with totally uneven light concentrations and shadows, to name
only a few flaws, but there’s absolutely no doubt what-so-ever that the Kidz
that Ski Tremblant find fun every run!
Weather Notes:
More Complex Tipping Point Potentials...
all we can do is hang in there and see how it
works out. To our advantage at Tremblant, the
low, single digit plus temps may indicate cooler
Mountain elevations could remain just Sub-Zero
even through the days. Nights are all good at -C’s.
Once again, the dimensional extent of this warnings coverage
can not be accurately predicted, so the possibility exists that
this far North may not see so much, if anything. Driving up from
any Southerly point of origin may be quite messy though.
----------------- Conditions Caveat -----------------
Effects From Recent Warm/Wet/Re-Cooled Weather factors
results in natural formation of icy sections that usually form
in recognizable patterns. Where they can not be groomed
out, those formations are usually very well marked with locally
hand posted signage, however it is not uncommon for some
patches to additionally occur or reappear during Open Hours
due to traffic, wind, or sun exposures.
Use your head and maintain very cautious speed in all
new explorations. Scan, Scan, and Scan some more
wherever there are others around, Lower Skill Level
Skiers and Boarders often accidentally end up in terrain
they can have difficulty in maintaining control. Watch Out
and allow large passing margins.
It is highly recommended to stay within,
or Just Below your realistic Skill Level for safety.

Thanks for your visit!
The summary is that the entire East Coast
has seen some really Whacky Wet/Warm Weather
recently, but Tremblant has come through it with far less
effect than most of it’s regional Peer’s by simply
being farther North.
