We had to go a fair ways back in the Archives to find a “Partially Sunny”
day, sample above from Feb.12, but what we were looking for was
“weather” moving in from the East. If you imagine the clouds coming in
from the right side of the pic. then you understand how the progression
of the 24Hour advance should shape up... “if...” the forecast model is accurate.
Speaking of “North, South, East, and West”...

We get many questions/comments about...

But Wait... You say those clouds are coming in from the East?
Why does that side of the Mountain have signs calling it “North”?

or... especially from Airline Pilots...

“Whats with the inaccurate directional labels of the sides of Tremblant?”
The point they raise is the Versant Sud, the “Labelled” South Side, is actually
facing West, and Versant Nord, the “Labelled” North Side is actually facing East.
You Can Trust Professional Navigators, as Airline Pilots are, to ask basic Q’s on directions...

If you have a Compass at the Summit, this would be a legitimate question.
If you watch the Sun Set in the West at the Summit, this would be a legitimate
question. This pic. you see above is facing almost directly North, and as we
all know, the Sun does indeed Set in the West.

The answer? Not exactly sure, but we think it has something to do with
a traditional local reference that may stem from 200 hundred years ago
when people were headed North from the actual South and encountered
the Sun drenched Slopes of what we now see as Versant Soliel. From that
point, it may have been a logical extension for them to think of the side
that came into view from there as “South”?

We’ve never had an explanation from any Official source, but there’s no
doubt from a Compass Point, the “Labels” are slightly skewed in rotational
orientation.

No Questions About Performance Today!!!

EXCELLENT!!!

More to follow on Performance as time permits, but “Excellent”
can be applied across all Skill Level Rated terrain to begin with.

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

GoTo: Archive, Search Reports by Date: Index: http://tinyurl.com/yktelmu

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.)
