11/26/18 #Tremblant Conditions

T360 Prime Time Apres Ski Edit @ 9:01 P.M.

Here are the essential good signs you’re going to
have a great day at Tremblant tomorrow.

-It’s snowing a lot on the Summit and Nord, North sectors.
-Everything has been impeccably groomed smooth.

There were places at Tremblant this afternoon between
2:00 and 3:30 P.M. that were getting snowfall at the rate of
about 4cm’s per hour. Some of the accumulations were from
blowing and drifting snow. Volume was variable and seemed to
periodically rise with squall-like intensity.

Not all sectors getting snowfall are open yet, but
all retained snowfall now, contributes to quicker
potential for opening over the entire Mountain
at some point.

What was happening was as the temps were dropping,
the new snow was bonding with the solid base, so traction
for carving edge-hold was literally growing with every run.

Basically, the Nord, North was firmer, with the base
still quite solid. Excellent, fast technical skiing, with
increasing grip performance directly proportional to
new falling snow accumulation depth.

The Sud, South was softer and below TGV, quite wonderfully soft,
and much easier vision. Trail #21, Dernier Cri, gets the unofficial
“Cool Grooves Shred Carving du Jour" Award.

For Tomorrow:
Similar to today in mild temps, but forecast all snow.
Winds continued rising up over Duncan from East,
but ramped up in strength, so you will want to have
good garment seals to keep those pesky breezes out.

If you can escape to ski Tremblant... do it.

19(*) Open Trails on Versant Sud, South, and Versant Nord, North sides of #Tremblant.

Due to flat, low contrast light, and floating, misty particles
that were intermixed periodically with snow, it was difficult,
next to impossible, to get “Action” shots yesterday, however...

This quiet, beautiful, snow covered shot of the Summit Level trees
on the upper entrance to P’tit Bonheur, adjacent to Trail #75, Andy Moe
at about 3:45 P.M. yesterday, is vitally important because it illustrates
that there was a Stable Sub-Zero environment that did not suffer thermal
damage.

Consequently, if the uninsulated snow in the trees is good, the Trail
Surface immediately before you, supported by the very well established
frosted base, is in fine shape.

Here is a supplemental observational addition @ 7:24 AM

It is not like this everywhere. Lower portions of the Mountain
have lost snow in the trees, but the temps never got high enough,
for long enough, to significantly affect the state of the base
which is very well chilled right down to the bottom trail run-outs.
The end result is we have the same open trails and we expect
today will be another day of superlative, high energy carving
traction with spring-like characteristics of grip and speed.

Tremblant, "Good To The Last Drop."

Very fine, super-shred, high performance snow
all the way to the Resort Base yesterday and
we expect similar today.

Weather Notes:

What we are hoping for is:

Today: The temps at Mountain elevations to
stay any fraction of a degree below the freezing mark.

Tonight, Tomorrow And Onward: The temps at Mountain elevations
to stay below the freezing mark, PLUS, natural snowfall. There are
forecast models out there associated with an Eastward moving
Mid-west storm system that suggest this region could get between
15 to 30cm’s of snow. That would certainly be good, however at
this stage it’s still way too early to tell how much Tremblant could
benefit specifically.

One of the most beneficial aspects of the long range forecast are the
very nicely below Zero C of the overnights that will not only support
natural snowfall production and the durability of the base, but may
also offer opportunities for Mountain Crews to do some night-time
snowmaking?

Conditions Notes:

Yesterday was a super-performance carving day, if you could
overcome any of the passing atmospheric vision issues.
The difference for today, at least in forecast potential, is that the
surfaces will be similar, but we hope the vision may be vastly better
in the absence of floating airborne particles of any type.

If that turns out to be the case, anyone lucky enough to be
at Tremblant today is going to enjoy some very fine Skiing
or Boarding with a huge mechanical advantage...

No Traffic.

The Opening Day and American Thanksgiving Holiday Weekend
group all seemed to disappear yesterday at just around noon,
and those still here not only had the whole place to themselves,
but a preview of todays performance.

Today is the beginning of what we affectionately refer to as a
“Private Club” week. There will usually be lots of Race Teams,
but for the most part, Racers congregate in designated
areas with practice Courses set up for training, so while
there are always Racers bombing around, they are never
at the numbers that crowd slopes when it’s a Holiday.

Even though the Open Terrain is limited compared to later on,
what is open is in superb shape and as an early season training
and conditioning environment, Tremblant represents an outstanding
value for those who want to get a real head-start on building Ski Muscle
for what promises to be a winter of “Super Season” potential.

Now is a great opportunity to get a genuine
head-start on conditioning for the upcoming
season.

If you are a member of the 24Hr. Children's Charity
Fundraising Event, this is an essential training period
for marathon preparation.

Very mild late Fall temps are a training advantage
for the next couple of weeks, so if you’re a regional
Tremblant fan, you should be making plans to get
out ASAP.

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

GoTo: Archive, Search Reports by Date: Index: http://tinyurl.com/yktelmu

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
