T360 Late Eve. Apres Ski Edit @ 11:07

The Skiing Got It’s Speed Back...

The ever-so-slight friction/resistance of yesterday was largely
vanished, and for those who skied yesterday, today you noticed
trails had more inherent speed and equally enhanced glide across
plateaus and over shallower slopes.

There were however, a couple of pesky components in the mix today...

One was the gusty nature of the wind.

If you did not have complete control of your outer layers, any gaps
could quickly allow the wind to find all those flaws and make them
immediately felt.

Not all aspects of the wind were negative though, for one thing,
it was refreshing a lot of surfaces very quickly and filling in
previous tracks within a few minutes.

Secondly, on the other side of that wind-driven coin, the wind was able
to generate some surprise icy bits. Oddly enough, in our experience,
Versant Soleil, Toboggan had the most noticeable series of icy bits
along its path in exactly the places where it can happen most often,
just over and down crests, on the pitches below. The only other place
that was noticeable was the initial short pitch from La Crete down to
Beauchemin, where it could be best described as a “Patch”, about maybe
4 or 5 metres wide and about 7 or 8 metres long.

Otherwise, beautiful skiing with great consistency and the vast majority
was very sweet, with highlight zones where grooming, or wind shelter,
or both, kept all-day quality of exceptionally fine levels. This is what
is referred to a “Primo”, first rate, “Squeaky-Cool”, high performance,
low resistance, pure white, very cool, winter snow.

Tomorrow... Sunny, temps rising to forecast -10C, and maybe
the best part, low SW breezes, so hopefully comparatively
comfortable. The Skiing should continue to be “Thrilling”
for Experts and “Easy” for Beginners and Intermediates.

But Wait, There’s More!

As in “More Snow”!

Hopefully, pic’s are worth thousands of words about current Ski Conditions,
but the essence is that right now:

Average Is Excellent.

(**) What you need to know, besides the excellent Ski Conditions,
is that even if it looks busy at the Summit, once you get out
on the trails, it seems like these 4 pic’s below, most of the time...

If it’s the same today... You are not going to have a hard time
finding your “Space”, the trail traffic density was non-existent
for most of the time yesterday. Despite what seemed like a crowd
at the Summit, once out on the trails, we frequently had to wait,
sometimes for minutes, to see anyone else. We like to have people
visible when possible, to give scale to pic’s so that viewers can get
a sense of proportion for dimensions. That was a challenge as
photographers, but absolutely fabulous as Skiers and Boarders!

Will today be the same? We think so, because yesterday was
a School Holiday in Ontario, so there were TON’S of people
from Ottawa on the last day of a 3 day long weekend. They
have all gone home now, so that may make things seem like
even less traffic on the slopes?

We are once again at that stage of coverage and refinement
where “Average Is Excellent”. Spectacular levels of groomed
performance capability are not only exceptional Expert utility,
but for the very same reasons of high grip and forgiving surfaces
that allow quick and effectively executed corrective moves, wonderful
for Beginners who derive confidence from responsive surfaces that
are easy to apply control over.

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

GoTo: Archive, Search Reports by Date: Index: http://tinyurl.com/yktelmu

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.)
