T360 2 Minutes After Midnight Apres Ski Edit, Under Construct @ 12:00 A.M.

Versant Sud, South Side Trail #23, Taschereau:
Hard To Foggy Find, Easy, Soft Skiing!

As foggy it was when we were there, Taschereau was technically easy
to ski. Soft, wide, perfectly smooth, short radius turns with a high degree
of control were very easy to link all the way to the bottom.

The Skiing performance was exactly what we had expected with
really fast surfaces, and you could drive your skis into turning
motion with complete reliability for lateral traction. There were
times when the Summit was clearer, and the lower levels, below TGV
on Sud/South and below Lowell T on Nord/North remained relatively
clear, all day. As far as photography went, it was all affected by
“thick” atmospheric conditions, top-to-bottom. It should be noted that
there was sunshine for about 4 minutes, and it was gone almost as
soon as it had appeared. We got one pic. we’ll use in tomorrows report.

So, generally, it was a Super-Fun Ski day with and Overcast sky... And No Rain.
Warm, soft, easy snow, everywhere.

For anyone who was wondering about the infrastructure repairs on Beauvallon Bas,
Lower, it is our understanding that it was a ruptured water pipe in the snowmaking
system that was very quickly buttoned up by Mountain Crews. There may be more
work needed there, we’re not exactly sure. We think it’s safe to say, when it’s been
filled in, Snow’d In and re-opened, we’ll know that the work is finished.

More Race Team Practice Drills With
Direct Applications For Recreational Ski Technique:

These pictures below are soft on focus due to poor foggy atmospheric conditions,
however there are focus points on the Skis that clearly show the drill
that places 100% of the Skiers weight on the outside turning ski, and
the inside ski is completely unweighted, i.e., off the snow. This is an
excellent practice drill that also has direct application to recreational
Skiing, especially in “Carving” technique. In this case, the outside
weighted ski can clearly be seen as flexed into an arch that represents
a well defined carved track turn with complete and continuous contact
with the snow along its running inside edge.

There is NO sideways skidding or sliding, the ski is leaving a single,
distinct, curved line in the snow. You can see the carved lines left by
previous team members as this is a group coaching session using the
same pathway.

Another Example Of This Same Race Drill:

Just as fuzzy on long, foggy zoom, but exactly clear on the Ski position,
where the inside ski is lifted completely off the surface, and the skiers
total weight is applied to the outside ski, showing the arch left on the
snow surface as a single carved track. What this teaches is “Commitment”,
referring to the concept of applying 100% weighted force to the outside
ski, combined with sufficient body angulation to allow the ski to bend into
an arch, thereby generating turning force.

You can use these same Race Team Drills to add to your own
recreational Skiing abilities. Those who have invested the time in
performing these repetitive skill-building exercises will all confirm
that the benefits can take your personal performance upward to
new levels in comparatively short time frames.

We encourage all recreational Skiers to carefully observe Race Training
on the Mountain, then try to copy those techniques into your own
development program. If you want to be a better Skier, a commitment
to “Continuing Education” will be your most productive asset.

For Tomorrow... There are too many “Wild Cards” in the forecast that
goes from overnight -4C to daytime +2C with “Mixed” Sleety/Rainy/Snowy
icons, to know exactly how it will end up.

Our best hope is that the “Elevation Differential” of Mountain heights
at the usual -4C, will happen with enough influence to have all the
precipitation over the trail network fall as snow.

Time will tell, but you’ll need to be ready for almost anything...

Visions Of Winter.

Every once in a while, while attempting to get good “Action” shots,
you realize there’s tremendous beauty in the “Big Picture”, and that’s
literally the background for every single day you’ll ever have at Tremblant.

What we forecast for today is all of yesterdays performance, arguably even more
due to the expected daytime high temps @ +5 C, that should render “Spring”
soft surfaces. Today's promise is Mega-Shred, Wonder-Carve, Go Anywhere versatility.
What we’ll probably lose today is most of that beautiful Snow in the trees we had all
day yesterday. There’s no insulation for the snow in the trees, so the moment
the ambient air temps go “+”, above Zero C, they get hit with 360 heat that melts
most of it off in minutes. Fortunately, that’s only a cosmetic consideration and it
has nothing to do with the wonderful performance that todays softer trail surfaces
should have from top-to-bottom.

Yesterday’s Promise For Today’s Performance.

We say it all the time... Tremblant Mountain Crews are masters of optimization,
and that’s the very best promise we have for the smooth performance across
all Skill Level rated Open Terrain for today.

Weather Notes:

Obvious thermal forces by forecasted temp values are easy
to be out in, so if you can stay dry until after the drizzly part
goes away, it’s a very pleasant day for light dressing.

Moderate South and Sou-West winds are forecast to diminish
during Open Hours, and will be coming up over Versant Soleil
and crossing the Summit towards the Lowell T Sector.

Conditions Notes:

If it hits +5C, it’s gunna be “Spring-Like”, for sure. There was just
enough hint of warm to soften yesterdays surfaces, so if there’s any
momentum in that, it will increase the uniformity of softness,
reducing the icy bit encounters because the probability is that
it will all be soft. What that means for today is big, big “Shred”
potential that will allow your Skis/Board to really carve into the
surface to depths that will support all the turning force you can
generate along your edges, in addition to your entire body weight.

For that reason, today actually has the potential to be the most engaging
performance day so far in this brand new season.

We’ll let you know how accurate that forecast is at Apres Ski, but
we don’t think there’s much risk of being wrong.

Low traffic volume of mid-week means those lucky enough to be
here should find it very consistent from first tracks to last run as there’s
just not much stress on trail surfaces, warm or otherwise, however,
there can still be some random early season natural hazards, so keep
an eye out on initial explorations.

The low Mid-week traffic is great reason for local/regional Tremblant
Fans to book some days off to hit the slopes for training/conditioning.
It’s hard to beat the healthy exercise of a full day of lapping Tremblant
for quickly whipping leg muscles into shape!

You’ll see it here, repeated year after year, P’tit Bonheur is a gift
directly from Heaven to early season Skiers at Tremblant. You will
see exactly why ANY skier can benefit from having this simple,
magnificent trail available in such fine shape every single day
when you can get all the permissions you need to be here yourself.

Page Under Progressive Assembly including Apres Ski to follow.

Bottom Line is that the very early establishment of the total
Mountain Ski-out to Base vertical access on both Sud/South
and Nord/North is the best durable asset for early season training
and conditioning.
