When Any Day Within This Domain
Looks Like This, It's Going To Be A Great Day.
This Is Real, This Is Tremblant Today.

Below: Trail # 12, Erik Guay, was milled flat yesterday and is
in magnificent condition. Light, dry, wonderfully high traction
with low friction snow. These are conditions that allow you to
easily optimize your technique on the fly because it’s so easy
to push your limits on trail surfaces that are receptive to holding
tremendous edge.

Below: Taschereau has been open since day 1 and has been
surprisingly consistent during the Fall weather cycles. It’s still
very fine and continues to be a Local’s favourite “Goto”.

We wrote about Andy-Moe this morning and what you see
here is the reality, exactly as expected, gorgeous.

The Star Of Early Season Openings Today:
Nansen Bas, Lower..
We’ve written extensively about the importance of this
trail opening, and today, it met, or exceeded every expectation
we had for its opening. Smooth, very well rendered granular
and fresh overnight powder, groomed into a silky sweet
blend that all skill levels can find rewarding.
Nansen Bas, Lower is a critical alternate Sud/South, Resort Base
Access and it’s just in time for the 24Hour Children’s Charity Fundraiser.
12.6.19.Nansen.Bas.Lower.Opening.Day.Star.b.jpg
Tremblant is in spectacular early season condition.
There are trail surface qualities within the array
of Open Terrain today, that would be the equal of
any mature Mid-February performance excellence.
For tomorrow, a -16C cooler night could maybe end up a
fair degree cooler than forecast, it just feels like its headed lower.
Time will tell on that, but in any event, it’s an excellent night for
Snowmaking and Grooming, so we think we could wake up to
35 to 37 Open Trails for Saturday A.M.??? The big Sector Opening
we think is likely or possible is the Expo Quad Sector.
Keep in mind that Mountain Crews always have a huge compensation
of new terrain for recreational Skiers that not involved with the
24 Hour Event, so if you want to sample “Great” get yourself to
Tremblant this weekend!
Temps rising all day tomorrow to -8C, so with the sunny part added in,
another fabulous Tremblant Ski/Board day coming right up.

Get Ready For Snowy...
Official 10cm’s of fresh, new snowfall is a very big step forward
in the advancement of Open Terrain for Public Access the day
before the big 24Hour Children’s Charity Marathon Fundraiser Event.
12.5.19.Sud.South.Taschereau.Snowy.Shred.Performance.g.jpg
If you take out the “Atmospheric” Snow filters in the Taschereau pic. above,
you end up with a very positive carry-over that has existed for several days
now based on this pic. below from Versant Sud, South Side McCulloch.
McCulloch was groomed flat, wide and very smooth, on 12.3.19. This is exactly
the quality of the under-layering surface grip/performance that is about 98% of
all Open groomed terrain over the entire Open footprint of Tremblant.
Tremblant has the reputation for some of the very best, light, dry,
snowmaking within the entire Eastern North American group of
Ski Resorts. When blended together with the amount of recent
Natural Snow through grooming operations, mornings like today
with a big jump in the Open trails means initial quality of very
high standards.
One of the biggest measures of todays standards for new openings
should be Versant Nord, North Side Trail # 71, Beauchemin Haut, Upper.
The addition of Beauchemin Haut, Upper, is the benchmark establishment
of a Versant Nord, North Side, single trail Summit-To-Base descent path.
Up to this point, Beauchemin Bas, Lower, has been a “Goto” for reliable,
daily, “Best Of” carving performance, since Opening Day, Nov.22.19.
Combined now with it’s upper half, Beauchemin takes its place as one
of the most significant single descent corridors on the entire Mountain.
In other Terrain Development News... Snowmaking on Versant Nord, North
Side Duncan, from top-to-bottom, including the adjacent “Devils River”, as well
as the very visible Expo Quad Sector Sissy Schuss and La Griffe from the Expo
peak to the Nord/North Base.
These Versant Nord, North Sectors are typically the primary new open
terrain that Tremblant offers for public access during the 24Hour Event
and because they are on the opposite side, away from the very busy
Resort Base during the Event festivities, they retain their normal quiet
ambiance for relaxed time on the slopes, removed from Event hustle and
bustle.
Weather Notes:
Todays Nor-West winds will be rising up the Mountain over Beauvallon
and Erik Guay. The base level speeds are moderate, so it may be
breezier at the Summit, but the Sunny long views over Lac T. should
distract you long enough that you won’t notice! Riding up the TGV Quad
with the sun and the wind at your back should be very pleasant and
also a great opportunity to get out Camera for some great action shots
over McCulloch.
If you are a member of any 24 Hour Event Team, you’ve got an easy
weekend, temp’s wise, to look forward to. With the preceding coolness
that’s in the base, we’re predicting very stable course conditions for
the Beauvallon descent, especially with tonight’s cool dip to add some
Kool Insurance.
Conditions Notes:
Please Note:
They May Be Small, But They’re BIG Early Season News!
Versant Nord, North Side...
Andy Moe and Axle - OPEN!!!
True, Natural Snow “Canaries In The Coal Mine”, as indicators
of Sector status these 2 trails that run diagonally from the top
entrance of P’tit Bonheur to Beauchemin Haut, Upper, then on
to the Lowell Thomas Sector Mid-Point are a reflection of the
abundant snowfall that has built up on the upper Nord/North
side exactly the way we predicted 3 days ago.
They are not “Extreme” in steepness, but they are extremely beautiful
natural settings as they flow gently through the upper levels of ancient
mountain forest and passing through them is like being in the very centre
of a living Post Card of iconic winter scenery you will remember forever.
Below is a file shot from the top of Andy Moe from last season
just to illustrate the points we’re making.
With regard to general trail surface conditions, Tremblant Open
Terrain continues to rely on a very well established Opening Day
base that has had only one, short Fall thermal burp since. There
has been over a metre of natural snow and by all historic Openings,
it is very good to excellent, with minimal hazards that might normally
be associated with early season conditions. Massive snowmaking effort
and periodic snowfall refreshers have all synergistically brought the
amount and quality of new terrain steadily upward.
It should be noted that the annual 24Hour Children’s Charity Fundraiser
benefits from a huge snowmaking and grooming effort to establish the
course to the degree that it can withstand 24 Hours of constant traffic
and still retain smoothness and tractive grip levels that are remarkably
consistent for the duration. Once the event is over, on Sunday at noon,
the Skiing/Boarding public inherits all this good work and the primary
descent trail, Versant Sud/South, #’s 8 and 32, Beauvallon Haut, Upper
and Beauvallon Bas, Lower, is a “Text Book” example you can use of the
highest levels of refinement that current grooming technologies can produce.
For reasons we elaborated on a few days ago, perhaps the single
biggest or most important logistical expansion of Open Terrain
gets awarded to Versant Sud, South Side Trail # 6, Nansen Bas, Lower.
We are putting this pic. in below from yesterday at Last Run as a “Before”,
with the intent to add another below it as “After” at todays Apres Ski.
12.5.19.Sud.South.Nansen.Bas.Lower.Construction.Observations.c.jpg
It is shown as progressive opening for today, so we will attempt to
get there for additional pic’s and hopefully a descent review. For sure,
for the upcoming weekend, this is a critically important opening for
all Mountain Guests who need access to the Resort Base.
