86(*) Open Trails On Sud/South, Nord/North, Soleil and Edge Sectors at #Tremblant .

----------------- 1:10 P.M. Update: -------------------

REVISED Open Trails To 85, And The
Mountain Is Fully Operational With All
Delayed Opening Restrictions Cleared.

Please Note: This update has been added Apres Ski
for the sake of the chronological record.

------------------------------------------------------------

When “Bad Weather” Is “Good News”...

Thank Goodness It’s A Ski Resort!

Up To 25 cm’s of Snowfall In A Few Hours.

Otherwise(a)...

Todays Wind At The Summit May Be
What We Politely Refer To As A “Howler”.

...at least to begin with.

The current velocity and direction of a very strong wind component
are dominant forces causing the delayed opening of Lift and Trail
operations on Versant Sud/South and Soleil Sectors this morning.

Otherwise(b)...

The Weather Is Still The News.

and...

We Are Not Alone.

This is a rare phenomenon and it is the consequence of an immense
storm system from the South-West. Precipitation in the form of rain
and snowy mixes have affected areas to the South and West with
over 2 months of average accumulations in 24 hours. Snowfall from
Dallas Texas, USA, running diagonally all the way north to us is a
very rare event. In Chicago Ill., USA, the wind is causing 20 foot tall
waves off of Lake Michigan to hit the cities waterfront shoreline.
In Western Canada, some of the coldest temp’s ever recorded.

This is a huge and very complex Continental System.

The “Silver Lining” is that Tremblant is now just far enough North in
Latitude to be in the snow-belt now associated with this system. So,
while the wind is causing these safety issues this morning, ultimately,
as we move forward, Tremblant will see potentially beneficial snowfall
accumulations while to the South, flash flooding is being experienced
in the Montreal area because the ground is frozen and the huge volume
of rain can not be absorbed by the the ground.

We think it is important to include this Continental perspective for
all, but especially future readers, to highlight the benefits of northern
latitude where these types of natural events are shorter and less
severe than “south”.

Weather Notes:

Besides the fact that the Continental Weather is an obviously
predominant story, the local picture detail within that context
sets the stage for both today and near-term conditions at
Tremblant and we are pleased to see what looks like a return
to stable “Winter” conditions.

Page Under All-Day Progressive Assembly
Due To Weather Factors.

Maybe once or twice per season, Mother Nature
exerts dominant forces that exceed safe operational
standards. Unfortunately, that’s today. Your patience
and understanding are appreciated. Service to affected
Versant Sud, South Side and Versant Soleil will be restored A.S.A.P.

want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

GoTo: Archive, Search Reports by Date: Index: http://tinyurl.com/yktelmu

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.)
