T360 Evening Apres Ski Edit @ 10:31 P.M.
Today Was...Super Demo Day!
Whoa... Slow Down And Pay Attention To This:
If you are a serious Skier, or serious about being the best Skier
you can be, you will NEVER purchase Skis without trying them first. Period.
2.1.20.Super.Demo.Day.Sud.South.Resort.Base.Johannsen.a.jpg
Scheduled Super Demo days are listed @ Tremblant.ca on a seasonal
basis, so if it happens that you are planning a Ski purchase, focus on
one of the dates listed and then make sure your decks are clear to
arrive early for one of the most rewarding and insightful days you
will ever have on the slopes. Ask 99 out of 100 Recreational Skiers
what the differences are going to be between 4 brands of 160cm’s
13 metre radius SL style skis(only one example of 100’s of potential
Ski spec’s you may be looking to compare) and they will look at you
as if you are speaking “Klingon”, but because you are a genuinely
knowledgeable Skier who seeks to be the very best you can be, you
are the 1 that will actually end up owning Skis through the Demo process
that match the performance and style that suits you best. You, and everyone
else that attend Super Demo Days, are that small statistical minority of
dedicated Skiers who are on the Right gear.
Here are 4 pic’s covering the one example of Ski Spec. we site above.

The advantage of being able to go from “A”, to “B”, to “C”, to “D”,
all in line, one after another, within a couple of hours, just has to
be an almost ideal mode of evaluation. Nothing else comes close
to Super Demo Days for identifying all the critical differences that
can help you identify your next Ski purchase.
Otherwise, today skiing at Tremblant was understandably a fairly
busy Saturday, but we never waited beyond 5 minutes at any Singles
Lift Line, and many times ski-on. Groomed trails were starting to show
traffic wear at the end of the day, and there were both moguls and
a few icy bits, but overall, still very, very fine skiing with tuned edges.
Tomorrow is “Super Bowl Sunday”, so if its typical, the Mountain may
pretty well empty out at about noon as folks head for the nearest Big Screen
TV to watch teams of grown men try to give each other concussions???
And Give Up Skiing???? are they crazy????... We’ll see you out there....
Remember Nacho’s and Beer are not really good for you, Skiing, on the
other hand, is excellent for your health.

Big, Big, February 1st. Utility News...
First Day Of Extended Open Hours To 3:45 P.M.!!!
That’s 2 extra runs if you know what you’re doing
with timing at the end of the day.
When the Mountain is fully Open, the Info.Ski Crews can help you
make the most of your Tremblant day by guiding your use of the
lift systems. In relation to typical traffic flows, they can recommend
the best ways to avoid waits, and stay moving.

That’s the way it is for everyone today...
Always Room For One More!
It may be a busy(unofficial)Long-Weekend day, so take it easy
in the traffic that will most likely have a lot of different Skill
Levels sharing a wide range of terrain both up and down. Strictly
considered clinically, the up-sharing is quite forgiving, so it’s
relatively easy to take on a new challenge with fairly low risk.
That’s good thing!

Below is a very good sample of exactly what we’ve been doing
almost all day, using the rolling topography to get these cool
“Air Turns” off the endless small lips and crests along virtually
every groomed trail on the Mountain. It’s hard to capture this
action in pic’s, so we are super happy to have this one with the
Skier about 10-15cm’s off the ground, and literally making almost
every turn in the air. Great, great fun if you feel comfortable
in the air.

Re: Above - Back 4 days ago, on Wed., we wrote:
"The wide open spaces you have to work with are an absolute joy,
especially when you begin to navigate the rolling topography in a
way that facilitates the unweighting phase of turn initiation by using
the natural crests along your descent line.” This is an extension of that
concept to its fullest degree. No doubt, “Airborne” equals “Unweighting”.
This technique is also why we choose a fully cambered, recreational
Slalom Race Ski(as opposed to a FIS Level full-out Race Ski), because
the full camber allows the ski to act as a “Leaf Spring”, so when you turn
and the ski is bent into a curved shape, that shape stores the energy that
caused it to bend and when you hit that little lip like the Skier above has just
come off of, the ski “Springs” back to its natural shape, popping you off the
surface where it’s easy to swing the ski around in the air. Sounds complicated?
Clinically, it’s an advanced Expert technique, but with the right ski and
a bit of confidence and speed, an assertive Intermediate can do this easily
with a bit of demonstrated instruction and practice.
Other Big Utility News:
It’s “Super Demo Day” at the Versant Sud, South Side Resort Base.
Located at the foot of Johannsen, Trail # 29, the major Ski brands are
hosting this fantastic opportunity to “Try Before You Buy” and we support
and promote the value of this event 110% as the very best way to determine
the Skis that will work best for you.
It is one of our “Pet Peeves” i.e.,Def: an annoying fact or situation that occurs
on a frequent or repeating basis... that many recreational Skiers purchase
and use Skis that they never try before buying them because they rely on
the very nice, friendly person at the “BIGBOXCO” Sporting Goods Outlet store
that applied a “Formula” to specific survey questions they ask you, to match
the survey generated profile, with a ski the Store Policy determines to be suitable.
This is wrong, wrong, wrong, but it literally happens all the time.
Your aptitude, your physical capability, your fun, your efficiency, your
potential, your learning and growing in the sport are often ignored,
held back, retarded, set aside, not realized, or any other form of
expressing a negative outcome, because of this common ski purchase
scenario.
The only meaningful way to evaluate Ski purchase options is to try
the skis you're interested in before you buy anything, and “Super Demo Day”
is the very best way to do that.
Weather Notes:
Nice!
Conditions Notes:
As long as you start by matching actual Skill Level with
selected terrain at the same level, and working carefully up from there...
Fabulous!
The firmness in the “All Snow” top layers of groomed still
want good edges for maximum turning force to be completely
retained. Otherwise, with any significant centrifugal force,
you’ll end up sliding out just because of the snow surface density.
There is virtually no ice, so if you do find yourself side sliding
without grip, time to take ‘em into the Ski Shop at the base
of the Cabriolet for a tune.
If you have dull edges you can safely slide around anywhere,
but you’re missing the most fun, so we recommend tuned gear
for best results.
You need to be careful in the Un-Groomed Mogul zones.
There are some Pre-Cambrian Granite “Shark Fins” lurking
around between the bumps and if you are not careful, you
may see more than sparks flying... There are still some
untracked Sous Bois, Glade descent lines, but until we get
more snow, they are reduced in number.
