T360 Apres Mid-Night, Apres Ski Edit @ 1:21 A.M.
Warm(#), And At Cooler Mountain Elevations
Conditions Remained Completely Winter...
(#)where “Warm” is relative, and not above Zero C.
This Is A 2 Pic. Up/Down, Opposite POV’s,
where you can see where each Pic was taken,
from within the opposite pic.
#1) - Looking Up. Please Note The Tree Stand in the middle of
the Duncan Summit Pitch. The #2 Pic below was taken where you
see the third chair on the Duncan Quad, above the Tree Stand.
2.4.20.Expo.Peak.Views.Duncan.Quad.Sector.Summit.Peak.c.jpg
# 2) - This POV Below is taken from the Duncan Quad as indicated above,
showing the Expo Sector Peak where the Above #1 Pic. was shot from.
Basically, It’s a 180' "Back ’n Forth” Opposite Sides of/over the same area.
Please Note the Tree Stand location being viewed below.
If you can identify the Top/Offload Zone of the Expo Quad in this pic. below,
you’ll also see a small dark square just in front of it. That is the Expo Peak
Trail Map Board and you can see the upper/corner of that board with the
“Tremblant” red/white logo in the lower left side of the frame above.
2.4.20.Duncan.Quad.Views.Duncan.Pitch.Tree.Stand.Over.Expo.Quad.Sector.Peak.c.jpg
The Duncan Summit Pitch you see above at the new, full width
of the entire descent, is a joy to use with so much smooth terrain
to traverse.
We did not encounter so much as a single speck of ice on it anywhere.
It is 100% shreddable, fine, crystalline snow of very close to ideal compacted
surface density.
Sky Drama Weather Observations:
2.4.20.Summit.Views.Vistas.Over.McCulloch.Ent.d.jpg
Mountain elevations remained at -4 C all day, and the wind was
variable with some gusty bits, but never unpleasant. We called
it an easy day with great performance, exactly the way we expected.
2.4.20.McCulloch.Pitch.Views.TGV.Quad.Lac.T.b.jpg
The temps are forecast to drop to somewhere around -13C overnight,
so that means any softness that’s maybe been lurking around is now
going to be very firmly solidified.
Consequently, tomorrows User Friendly, will be the Grooming Night-Shift
going on right now. Expect a Sunny, very fast day. Sharp Edges will rule
the Mountain.

Regardless of Atmospheric Conditions,
Here’s Whats Running Under Your Edges ALL Day.
2.3.20.Sud.South.Resort.Base.Johannsen.Board.Performance.Observations.c.jpg
In the following pic. below, taken on the upper entrance level
pitch of Versant Nord/North Trail # 72, P’tit Bonheur, we attempted
to make 2 consecutive runs to overlap tracks for the purpose
of illustrating overall groomed surface quality as well as the
control/performance you can enjoy in these very uniform surfaces,
that are top-to-bottom, Summit-To-Base, side-to-side, wall-to-wall...
you get the picture...
Please Note: Contrast/White Balance/Highlights have been altered to
optimize trail snow surface image detail.

Figures Of Eight.
With recently fresh edges, and full camber Recreational SL Slalom Ski,
it’s like driving a Ferrari at the Race Track. We estimate a well conditioned
Alpine Skier Athlete can exceed 1G of lateral turning force in these conditions,
easily. Of course... you need the skills and the muscle, but the potential is
there. The really “Cool”, as in favourable, desirable, neat, interesting and
even impressive part is... this is on one of the very best “Green” trails
in the known Ski World, and it is not at stupid or unsafe speed, and it was
in almost the complete absence of any other people. As a matter of fact...
it takes about 10 minutes to return here for the second run, and in that time
no other person crossed the first set of Carves, and... we had to wait for
about 3 minutes for anyone else to show up so we could have “Persons”
in the background to add human scale to the photograph.
But Wait, There’s More... !!!
Down The Trail And Around The Corner...
Let’s extend this little Trail Case Study to include the etherial,
nearly spiritual experience of being presented with one of
Mother Natures most beautiful scenic locations in the known
Ski World, at the very same time you have all the extraordinary
performance.
2.3.20.Nord.North.Ptit.Bonheur.Near.Flawless.Surface.Spectacular.Scenery.f.jpg
This Is Why You Choose Tremblant.
Average Is Excellent.
When combined with Trail # 77, Beauchemin Bas, Lower, to the
Versant Nord, North Side Base, this descent line is approximately
4.5 Kilometres and it is a “Goto” reference for performance and
quality that are World Class for Skiers who are looking for Skills
Development terrain where long, uninterrupted descent paths can
accelerate your learning curve dramatically by allowing you to
establish an unbroken rhythm of practice on near-ideal, consistent
surface conditions.
There are dozens of other examples of equally fine conditions
and when the Mountain is so fully winter matured it would
be impossible to elaborate on each of them individually, so
we encourage you to get to Tremblant as soon, and as often
as possible so you can find them yourself. These winter conditions
don’t last forever and the longer days are proof that time is marching
on with the sun seeming to get higher in the sky every day we’re
lucky enough to see it.
Weather Notes:
The forecast says initial sunny bits, but so far it’s overcast.
The likelihood is that it’s going to be overcast all day.
We’re happy with that because the cloud cover is essentially
acting as an umbrella keeping undue solar energy off of
the precious Trail network snow with ambient daytime
temps close or at Zero C. If there’s bonus over yesterday,
it’s that there’s less chance of Fog over the Mountain,
so better overall functional vision.
Special Weather Forecast Statement:
2.3.20.La.Crete.Views.Snow.Breezy.Beauvallon.Haut.Upper.Over.Lac.T.d.jpg
Conditions Notes:
For today:
We expect another overnight Grooming cycle to elevate the
surface density yet again. That means yesterdays fast and
responsive groomed snow surfaces could be even better.
What we found surprising yesterday was a notch above what
we though could be speed recovery from the damp new snow
of 2 days ago, and we think that was because of the cool edge
you could feel in the wind. There was a perceptible decrease in
the feel of humidity and that beneficial dryness seemed to take out
any of the previous sticky sensations. It was actually dry enough
to generate swirling airborne snow particles as you came around
trail bends into facing wind zones(See pic. above).
If that characteristic continues for today, there is some very fine
performance potential increase possible over the entire range
of Skill Level groomed terrain. It’s another case where what
makes for excellent Expert performance also makes for excellent
Beginner performance, the core elements being simultaneous
low friction, and high traction.
In the Sous Bois, Glades, Hors Piste and Un-Groomed/Mogul zones,
the same cautionary notes apply as yesterday in that there are
some natural hazards in the more frequently used descent lines.
If you want to avoid those, you need a slow enough speed that
you can navigate line of sight between individual bumps in your
initial explorations because in some cases, the glitches are not
evident until you are virtually on top of them.
For the time period of the Weather Warning Above:
At this stage, the available forecast data suggests that Tremblant
should be far enough North in Latitude that the precipitation here
will be all snow.
