T360 Late Night Apres Ski Edit Under Construct @ 11:39 P.M.

To begin with, Skiing Was Great!

Everything Positive We Though Could Happen, Did Happen.

Basically, what was prone to be tracked and choppy, is now smooth and sweet!

Now for the details...

For the obvious reasons pictured above, we had to “Cook” white
balance, highlights, exposure, contrast, definition, brilliance
and brightness to get as much Snow Surface detail as possible.
Pic’s are still not ideal, but ski conditions are getting close!

The focus in this Apres Ski report is the difference that one day
can make in the attainment of increasingly optimized groomed
trail surface density. In the case of “Today”, this difference is
a profound jump upwards that completely changed the character
of the Groomers primarily across the Green and Blue trails.

Yesterday, P’tit Bonheur was somewhat thick, tracked up and
even had some very rare little moguls.

Today... Wall-To-Wall Smooth, Level, Flat, and Fast!

If you look at the first pic in the orig. post below, you should
be able to instantly see the difference.

If you look at the yesterday wide angle Sissy Schuss pic. in the original post
below, you can see a huge difference in this one below. Todays conditions are
what we want to see in these trails, consistent, predictable, smooth utility.

This sample below of Nord/North Banzai Bas/Lower was not re-groomed,
however, it is as if it has “Settled”, so it has remained very stable and with
low traffic, there’s almost no wear stress on it at all. It’s Expert Easy with
lots of small, tight, short radius turns.

We stand by our call that Wednesday, that’s “Tomorrow”, should see
very close to ideal groomed trail surfaces after tonights one more
night-shift putting another pass of packing into the recent big snowfall.

Tremblant Is “Post Card” Beautiful.

You could be from any side of Planet Earth and no matter how
far you’ve traveled, the spectacular scenery will stop you in your
tracks to admire vistas of iconic natural beauty.

The massive and very quick accumulations of the recent Texas Low
snow storm system have literally “Heaped” huge amounts of deep
powder just about everywhere. Consequently, almost all the groomed
terrain was up in challenge level to navigate due to the residual softness
that was prone to tracking and variable degrees of mogul formations.

We expect that to be substantially different today with particular reference
to trail surface density on Green rated trails like the P’tit Bonheur sample that
you see above. The number of days in a whole season that this trail exhibits
this softness can typically be counted on the fingers of one hand. We think
you’ll find it distinctly more refined today with last nights grooming shift.

Below:
In this trail surface sample, take on upper Sissy Schuss, #79, you can see
the nature of the loose snow and if there is resistance, it is from uncompressed
loft, not stickiness. The snow is light and dry. There is just so much depth
that it will take multiple Grooming cycles to get compaction to more ideal
levels that are all-day, mogul resistant smoothness.

Below:
Expanding the view up and outwards to show a wide angle of the
entire trail from the exact snow sample location, you can see how
this overall softness translates to conditions that require a technical
focus on deliberate, assertive control moves to effectively maintain
both directional and speed stability through somewhat “Thick” ambient
surface characteristics. For Experts, no problem at all, in fact there are
hundreds of tiny contour bumps, so with a bit of safe speed you can actually
use them to pop off the tops and make almost every turn in the air if you
want, but for those lesser skill levels there is extra muscle demand necessary
to push through.

There is no such thing as “Too Much Snow” at a Ski Resort, especially
for Experts who revel in the unique thrills that rapidly built depths crate,
but for Beginners and Intermediates it’s a different story, so at this stage
it is still necessary for those Skill Level Guests to explore cautiously in
appropriately matched Green terrain, before attempting increased challenge.

The big, big bunches of deep new snow for both Mountain Op’s and
Guests are what we call “Happy Problems” and it just takes a day or three
to get it all sorted out.

In the meantime, the extra bit of muscle it takes to get around
is some of the very best exercise you can get, so be sure to
support that effort with high quality protein meals Apres Ski
to facilitate overnight recovery.

Speaking About “Extra Muscle” to get around...

If you are a legitimate Expert and you have a fondness for turning
your Quad Muscles into Jello... Try This!!!

Weather Notes:

Super easy temps are back again for at least the next few
days with one “Cool” day appearing later on, but all of this
is very reassuring for the overall stability of “Winter” conditions
and if you look at the snowfall icons in the 14 day model closely,
there’s a lot of great potential in this forecast.

Plan accordingly if you can make time to go Skiing/Boarding!

Conditions Notes:

Our theory for today is that what is freshly groomed should
be noticeably easier with compressed surface density, and
what is Un-groomed should become more challenging with
Un-compressed deep and loose snow that can build moguls
to the size of VW Bugs.

Therefore, for Groomer preferences, More and Better

Therefore, for Mogul Hound preferences, More and Better.

Today, everyone wins!

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

GoTo: Archive, Search Reports by Date: Index: http://tinyurl.com/yktelmu

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.)
