T360 Apres Midnight, Apres Ski Edit, Under Construct @ 1:17 A.M.

A Very Fine, Very Snowy, Very Fast, Quintessential Winter Day.

The scene you see below is from the Summit level, looking out over
the Versant Sud, South Side Trail # 13, “Vertige”. It is one of the
steepest trails at Tremblant. If you stand with your Ski Tips hanging
out over the trail slope at the very top, you can see the bottom
of the trail between the ski tips. That’s steep. At this stage, even on
this steepest of trails where gravity makes it challenging to keep covered,
you can see an abundance of natural snow from wall-to-wall, so that’s a
great sign of the excellent, fully mature seasonal conditions.

On a Super-Snowy, reduced vision Winter day, all Tremblant Guests
from regional regulars to far away Ski Holiday visitors, and everyone
between, can benefit from Tremblant’s unique “Info.Ski” team. They
circulate around the Mountain and can provide you with guidance
for the best up-to-the-minute trail updates, or where to find terrain
suited to your tastes or skills. We consult with them every single day
just to keep up with evolving operational and conditions updates.

In the body of the original post below, as well as yesterdays post, we refer to
the significance of Trail # 66, Versant Nord/North, Le Tunnel, which has been
groomed and continues to be a spectacular example of how Grooming renders
out the natural contours of the descent line to a smooth finish that makes
this one of the best technical Black trails on the entire Mountain.

The easiest and importantly safest Expert technique to use
on Le Tunnel right now is a very fast, tight, “Parallel Style” turn
sequence. There is so little traffic here, we had to wait about 10
minutes to see Skiers! That very low use has allowed this trail to
stay really close to perfect, these pic’s taken at roughly 3:05 P.M.
so practically speaking, “Last Run” with virtually no signs of wear
at all for an entire Open Day.

If this was the very first of our reports you’ve ever seen,
we’d have to say you’ve found yourself reviewing the
technical peak of the February 2020 Winter season that
has been escalating upwards on a daily basis to this point.

Of course, that’s a generalization, and there have been
graph-like peaks and valleys on the way up to this date,
Mother Nature does not move forward on a strictly straight
line pattern, but it’s no small coincidence on the day they
call “Valentines Day”, we refer to February as the “Heart”
of winter.

Be sure to check out the Hourly Weather data below,
it’s supposed to get down to -23C tonight and it would
not surprise us if it got cooler than that... You’ll need
to bundle up in the morning for sure. The Skiing should
be fabulous, you just want to be ready for the temps so
you can enjoy it comfortably.

102/102(*) Open Trails On All 4 Sectors At #Tremblant .

Tremblant is currently at a technical peak
of seasonal excellence. Period.

It is not perfect, perfect exists only in concept,
but it is very close to ideally optimized.

These statements apply to all categories of Terrain
from Front Side Groomers to Sous Bois, Glades, Hors Piste,
Moguls, et al., and across all Skill Levels of terrain ratings.

As Proof Of Grooming Optimization And Overall
Seasonal Excellence, We Offer The Following:

le pièce de résistance

((#) Please Note: Flat, very low contrast ambient grey light
required significant pic. modification to show prioritized
Trail Snow Surface conditions, and that made background
appear darker than it actually is.)

The importance and value of this grooming refinement event
can not be overstated in terms of a seasonal high-mark in
Tremblant trail development potential.

Though it be small in length and area,

It is an ultimate, HUGE indicator of conditions excellence.

If we were half-way around the World, and we knew that Le Tunnel was going
to be Groomed now, we would switch all our plans to be here for this one trail.
It’s that significant, and that good.

Only Mother Nature Can Shape Granite To Flow Like A River,
And When Groomed, You Can Feel That Very Rare Opportunity Here, Now.

Grooming makes the natural topographical contours of Le Tunnel come alive.
Normally, with moguls the size of VW Bugs, you’ll never feel what you can
experience here today with the smooth, undulating and absolutely perfect
fall line descent over some of the sweetest rolling pitch angle sequences
know to the Human Ski Experience.

Please forgive our enthusiasm, there may be some who think we are “Nuts”,
but until you go there with us and follow the natural pace and rhythm that
Mother Nature sets here for you in this spectacular scenic setting, you may
simply never understand.

A Short Editorial - Why “Details” matter:

By comparison to the total square area of groomed terrain
at Tremblant, Le Tunnel could be considered a detail due
to its small area and out-of-the-way location, however, as it is
often said... “The Details Make The Difference” and in that regard,
this trail represents every good and desirable thing that can be
associated with the highest levels of detailed preparation within the
groomed array you have to choose from at a Ski Resort. It is this
difference in detailed preparation that we think sets Tremblant Mountain
Operations apart from all those “Other” Ski areas.

The glossy magazine articles that feature one or two pages and a
few scenic or "extreme" photos are rarely or never going to get into
the kind of detail that reveals the genuine core of the quality that goes
into a whole Mountain of this scale. We do, and it matters very much
to us that when those details are evident, that we feature them
in a way significant enough to draw your attention to them for both
the specific and overall benefit they represent to your precious time
on Ski Holiday at Tremblant.

Otherwise...

It is possible with more snow and sustained Sub-Zero C temps
that we could experience even better conditions than today,
however it is also possible that we may retrospectively consider
today a high-point, at least, and in-so-far-as, “Winter” conditions.

Please note that in consideration of the above “Winter” reference,
“Spring” conditions, with their subjectively different conditions
characteristics, are separate and distinct, so from a total seasonal
perspective, there could be future “Best Of”, but with different criteria.

More Excellence, But At A “Green" Trail Rating...

Conditions Notes:

As fine as things are on an overall basis, there are a few traffic
converging slick zones that exist due to big passing volume
over narrow widths within very small areas of the groomed array.

If you have dull edges, you may think those sections are icy,
if you have recent good edges, you will realize they are primarily
just very dense snow that’s been polished by repeated users who
are for the most part, side-sliding over them, adding further to the
polished effect.

In the Sous Bois, Glades, Hors Piste, things are wonderful. Deep, fluffy
snow is everywhere and there are many, many untracked lines.
For Mogul-hounds, they are mostly just huge and soft, but there are
some slick and/or firm bits in the valley’s between some bumps.
Generally, still very fine.

We hope to have a more in-depth look at Le Tunnel as a case study
regarding its multi-Skill Level applicability when groomed, later on in
Apres Ski. It’s currently snowing somewhat heavily, so not sure about
long-view photography for that today, but the flip-side is it’s going to
make the skiing exceptional... again.

Words are lacking to explain how good Tremblant is.
You simply need to be here, in which case you'll know

If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

GoTo: Archive, Search Reports by Date: Index: http://tinyurl.com/yktelmu

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
