Above is a “Last Run” pic.file sample of Versant Nord/North Side trail # 69,
Rigodon. We found it near-flawless, with totally reliable grip for what was
common all day long, the kind of thrills you would expect if someone gave
you(metaphorically) the keys to a Ferrari sitting at the Open Gate to the
Le Circuit Race Track.
With that thought from above, in mind...
This is a quick summary Apres Ski to confirm that all the potential
we expected to find today, did materialize to at least somewhere
between 92% and 97%. The ever-so-slight and very small anomalies
where some irregular icy bits(1) that are typical at just below some
topographical contour crests and some very slight mogul formations(2),
also typical on some pitches where traffic concentrations to multi-trail
access points.
We are really trying to be objective by being almost “Picky”, because
at anywhere around 95%, it’s really so good that no one reasonable would
ever be critical, especially when describing the human effort in the face
of Mother Natures global sized hands.
(1) - Example: there was a very small icy bit just below the lateral crest
running across Beauchemin Mid, at slightly above the entrance to the Edge
Sector. As you came around the final corner from the Lowell T Quad Base
plateau, heading for Beauchemin Bas, Lower, there was about a 4 metre
square icy bit that you may have contacted descending. If you were either
side of it, you would have not seen or felt it at all.
(2) - Example: concentrated traffic accessing multiple trails from a single
access line, caused irregular moguls to form on Versant Soleil, Franc Sud(#40),
as it descends past the Laurentienne, Tiguidou and Toboggan trail entrances,
on your way to Algonquin.
There may have been other types of glitches, but we never experienced
anything other than some of these really minor items that in no way detracted
from the overall excellence across all Groomed trails.
If you had really dull edges, you may have felt somewhat differently, but even
then, our edges are now about 2 weeks from fresh and we were carving like
a Surgeon with a sharp scalpel, everywhere, without fail.
We hear from reliable sources the Sous Bois was great, Moguls too,
but we had so much fun “Front-Side Carving”, we never made it to
un-groomed or Hors Piste... Tomorrow, for sure.
Virtually everything is excellent. It’s the third week of February
and this is still the heart of winter. We think there’s still enough
cold in the substrates to keep this up for another day or three(?)
Coverage is phenomenal , speed is rocket fast, friction? what friction?
Read through below, and... Go if you can...

It’s a bit of a mouthful, but exactly accurate...
As a symbolic indicator of overall seasonal maturity
and total Mountain optimized potential that can only be
realized because of an abundance of natural snowfall
accumulations and developed trail network refinement,
this trail is...
The Secret To Understanding Today’s Excellence:

Above: It’s Not A Fancy Action Shot...
Mostly because after waiting about 7 or 8 minutes for
a “Victim”/“Subject” to show up in order to get a fancy
action shot, no person or persons appeared here, signifying
that on one of the busiest traffic volume weekend days of the
whole season, this Hidden Gem of extraordinary technical
Groomed excellence, is so under utilized that it constitutes
an act of criminal negligence on behalf of the entire Skiing Public.
Only Mother Nature can make a granite descent line flow like
a river, and Mountain Op’s has brought that to life with their
outstanding effort that both reveals and allows real, normal,
Intermediate and all other Advanced Skill Levels to experience
it’s architecturally true, simply brilliant, rhythmically undulating
near-faultless, superb Fall Line.
Groomed for the first time this season about 10 days ago, and
with a significant natural snowfall accumulation since then, this
trail has been groomed a second time. We are thrilled to see that,
not only for its own outstanding technical merit, but because
it means that the whole rest of the Mountain is near-ideal and
Crews have the time and machine resources to allocate to this
less traveled trail.
Excerpt From The International Dictionary Of Skiing(#):
“Hidden Gem”, Eng. Term/Expression; Definition:
A trail or descent line of outstanding quality or character that is not
recognized or appreciated to the degree it deserves due to either
its remote or undisclosed location and/or its small relative size in
relation to immense surroundings. Case-in-point: Trail # 66 @ Tremblant.
Bravo and Merci Tremblant Mountain Op’s.
This is a Gift to the Skiing Public that in it’s own right is an Eastern
Skiing Standard Equivalent of near-flawless technical merit that would equal
the same type or degree of specialization for uniqueness that any single, fresh,
100cm powder line would represent at Revelstoke B.C.
Totally different, but each in its own way, very close to totally perfect.
Today, Trail # 66 is the symbolic embodiment of the overall
reference to the quality of the Groomed Terrain array at Tremblant
being defined or characterized as “Average Is Excellent”.
Weather Notes:
If you were here 48 hours ago, with a 35C rise in temps to today,
you’ll think you woke up in the Caribbean, that is, until you look
outside and see the brightness is Snow White, not White Sand.
Anyway, comparatively speaking its really warm out so it may generate
some foggy bits(?) where “Cloudy” is indicated. From the adjacent Old
Village of Mt. T., the Summit view is currently obscured by cloud/fog.
Not sure if goggle vision may be effected, but yellow lens may be useful?
Conditions Notes:
