T360 Apres Midnight Apres Ski Edit @ 12:38 P.M.

It eventually warmed up by 26C today, from -29 C, to reach
a mid-afternoon high temp of -3C.

Wow... we think that is going to be one of the top temp. spread rises
we’ve ever documented. Almost an unbelievable difference to the feel
of the day.

The original post has the top pic as an Erik Guay POV over Lac T., to
the Old Village of Mt. T. Below is the flip-side, 180 degree opposite
view, taken from the Old Village, showing the camera POV as annotated
with the location as a red dot, and the camera angle showing as a red
arrow projecting from the dot. What you get from that is the obvious
confirmation that the smooth groomed quality is still there today, as
it should be for the foreseeable future.

This is only one sample of dozens and dozens of similar examples
you can find every day at this time of year over the “Groomed”
icon listed trails in the archived, Official downloadable PDF. below.

More fresh snowfall for tomorrow and temps up to +1C at Sud/South
Resort base. We expect Mountain elevations to remain Sub-Zero C all day.

It’s the final weekend of the annual “Presidents Week” USA School Holiday,
so it could be a busy day, at least it won’t be freezing crazy cold...

Regional Tremblant Fans... take a close look at the 2 week forecast
and plan accordingly if you can.

Despite the early morning cold weather challenges
which we elaborate on below...

Technically, the skiing is excellent. Superbly groomed and
highly refined as the result of multi-day repeat night-shifts,
the performance is wonderfully consistent, and a joy to be on.

Here are a couple of samples from yesterday that we expect to
look and ski virtually identically today.

Otherwise...

The Weather Is Definitely The News.

If the forecast becomes the actual, temps should rise
just about 23C upwards by the high point after lunch.

That is an incredibly large spread and we think at least anecdotally,
maybe one of, if not the largest low-to-high spreads we’ve ever seen.

Weather Notes:

Wow... From “Wild” to “Mild” in one day. Saturday is currently
showing such a different character that for anyone brave enough
to be out this morning, tomorrow they will feel like they are on
a different planet.

Conditions Notes:

Technically excellent Skiing, but for the morning at least,
a cold weather warning that is entirely appropriate with
the compounded Wind-Chill values, combined with forward
descent velocity that facing into the wind could generate
total effective wind chill in the -50’s C/below -40F.
This is a serious natural danger zone until temp’s rise.

Conditions Caveat: Morning Low Temp. Danger Zone
We recommend young children be kept indoors until
temps rise substantially.

Moving forward... The cold snap of several overnight deep low temps
should have a net carryover effect for at least a couple of days in
our opinion. This is what we would call “Thermal Momentum”.
Mount Tremblant is a very large conical mass and when subjected to
extended deep cool, that is stored in the mass and takes a while to
be offset by the warmer temps moving in. It’s way too early to accurately
predict the exact effects, but one thing is for sure, it’s going to be very
interesting to observe this unique recipe Mother Nature is going to cook up.

Typically for the groomed trails, we would expect an extraordinary level
of refined performance. It’s been several days now since the last snow
storm, so the overnight grooming should have optimized trail surface
density and with an overall warming trend, that means rocket fast and
very high traction. What we think will happen is that the “Thermal
Momentum” we mentioned above is going to keep the surfaces unusually
dry for at least a couple of days into this warm spell coming up.

The combination of pleasant ambient air temps and super-chilled
snow surfaces for the next couple of days could be the best of both
worlds, and that’s an opportunity we don’t think you should miss.
These “Fingerprint” conditions with highly unique co-factors have
seasonal “Best Of” potential, but make no mistake, they are a
“Limited Time Offer” because after a couple of days of genuine warm
air temp’s, whatever residual dry cold might have been in the top layers
is going to be quite a bit different.

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

GoTo: Archive, Search Reports by Date: Index: http://tinyurl.com/yktelmu

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.)
