T360 Apres Mid-Night Apres Ski Edit @ 1:21 A.M.

Tremblant has been a popular destination for American Ski
travellers for 8 decades and today was the start of the last
weekend of the U.S. “Presidents Week” Ski-Holiday period,
so it was busy.

Tomorrow will probably see some of that same traffic in the
morning, but because so much of the Eastern Regional U.S.
population centres like New York, Boston, Philadelphia,
Syracuse, et al, are all within an easy day’s drive, what we
typically witness is a rather NASCAR like exit at just after lunch.
Basically, similar to many other Holiday Week Guests, the
Presidents Week group like to get in a mornings worth of turns
on their last day, then hit the road for home.

But... We think a lot of those folks are going to have a hard time leaving the
extraordinarily fine conditions. Time will tell.

And... The conditions continue to escalate upwards. One of the very best
signs of that came today in a technical data entry error on the Official,
Downloadable, Trail Status PDF, when Versant Nord/North Side trail # 66,
Le Tunnel was accidentally left off the “Groomed” icon list. Look below in
the body of the Original Post where we have a Mid-Day Insert Update that
proves it is indeed, Groomed.

This is when we are glad we don’t have a lot of readers here because we
really don’t want to have share this trail with anyone(scenic reminder why, below),
and in this way, we get to keep it all to ourselves... and you. So... “Shhhhhhh”,
please don’t tell too many of your friends...

Besides the obvious, outrageous natural beauty shown above....

If you want some reminder/reasons this trail is so important, you need to
go back through about 10 days or so, to these links posted here, below.
(you will need to scroll through the entries to get to the trail #66 references,
but this is Ski Holiday homework worth the effort.)

Add in what have below, and extend all of that for tomorrow.

Consequently, we think tomorrow could well be a seasonal
key-point for future historical quality reference? Will we be right?
Missing it is not worth the risk. Go if you can.

...but, in an important way...

It’s Going To Seem Like A Different World On The Slopes Today...

30 Degrees C warmer in 30 hours.

If anyone has any doubts about the absolute power of Mother Nature,
the temperature comparison between yesterday and today should go
a long way to proving the dramatic differences possible.

If you’re just arriving today... you’ll never know.

Moving forward...

One of the very biggest possible,
positive clues to conditions today.

This trail(# 64) was in excellent condition yesterday, and as you will
read below, it holds absolutely huge development potential for
today.

Weather Notes:

At the projected daytime high temp today,
it will be 30 degrees C warmer than yesterday morning.
That is an astounding range in such a short time, but if
we are right, it should make for some very unique conditions
today, as the residual chill in the surfaces will be durable
for an as yet, undetermined number of hours.

Conditions Notes:

A couple of key theoretical concepts:

1) We specifically think that the conditions today will carry forward
a benefit that may be intangible, but non-the-less present. That
is the residual coolness from successive very cool days and
-30 C overnights. All that “Cool” does not just disappear instantly.

The snow acts to variable degrees as a blanket that in this case,
preserves the chill in the substrates. In our opinion, it could take
a couple or three days before the insulated chill value of snow
surfaces begin to yield to the atmospheric presence of warmer
ambient air masses. For that reason, we think you’ll find uniquely
excellent surfaces in all categories of terrain and across all skill levels
for at least today and tomorrow.

This entire concept is enhanced by the function of convection.
Heat rises, and cold sinks, so our theory is that the sinking
cold stays right where it is for days moving forward.

2) Based on the grooming icons present in the archival copy of the
downloadable trail data PDF. below, we are very encouraged to
see what we think could be a significant sign of groomed trail
refinement as indicated by the icons for trails numbered 64 and 65,
Versant Nord/North Side “Marie-Claude Asselin”, and “Banzai”.

These 2 trails are our “Canneries in the coal mine”, i.e., indicators
of total Mountain health and refinements. They were never directly
supported by snowmaking at the beginning of the season, so when
they are shown as groomed it is for at least 2 very good reasons,
number 1 is that there is an abundance of natural snow, number 2 is
that Mountain Crews have accomplished an overall level of finishing
on the main trail network that allows them the time to get to more
remote, or lesser traveled locations.

Another interesting point related to the second reason above, is that
on a potentially busy weekend day, the “more remote, or lesser travelled”
part from above can mean that these 2 single Black Diamond trails are
actually easier than some Blue trails(in particular the Lower Portions from
below the Lowell T. to Duncan/Devils River Cat-Track), just because they
don’t get the traffic volume and they often remain to be found as smooth
as a Pool Table with no signs of wear or stress, all day long.

Regular readers here may also realize that there is one other potential
gift possible now, or soon to follow in this scenario, but we’ll leave that
one ’till later on. In the meantime, you can give yourself 10 points if you
can guess what it is.

We will hopefully get back to you on all that with some quality “research”,
later on at Apres Ski.

------------ Mid-Day - T360 Fan Submitted Pic/File - Insert Update -------------

Quote our text from above:

"Regular readers here may also realize that there is one other potential
gift possible now, or soon to follow in this scenario, but we’ll leave that
one ’till later on. In the meantime, you can give yourself 10 points if you
can guess what it is.”

The Bonus Happened. This trail sometimes “Flies Under The Radar”
in the Official PDF. listing which is why we said “potential gift” above.
More on this at Apres Ski.

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

GoTo: Archive, Search Reports by Date: Index: http://tinyurl.com/yktelmu

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.)
