T360 Late Eve.Apres Ski Edit, Under Construct @ 11:12 P.M.

In general terms, we got just about everything we
thought the day could be. In our experience, we found
smoother, more refined, as in deeper, more consistent
depths of loose top layers, more even, as in uniformity in
the refinements, and all this from Side-to-Side, and
Top-to-Bottom.

It was a less than ideal day for photography, low contrast,
flat light, with tremendous challenges for camera to capture
snow surface detail. Its been like this off/on for weeks with
only a few really sunny days.

Anyway, we thought all the open Groomed trails were a step
up from yesterday, where a much more aggressive carving angle
could easily be set and held today, on virtually every descent line,
and for all skill levels.

One of our key tell-tale indicators, Banzai Bas, Lower, was near
flawless, not just good or great, it was excellent. The runout of next
door trail, Marie-Claude Asselin has a beautifully smooth finished
groomed width that we think is the widest we’ve seen it, ever.

Mountain Crews are doing everything possible with the existing
resources and with that optimization there are some thin spots
from pre-existing wind exposed zones that should respond very
quickly in a positive way with the snowfall that’s forecast to arrive
through the night, tonight. That’s what industry supply chain
management calls “just In Time” inventory delivery, in this case,
new snow, and if the forecast is right, quite a bit, between 30
and 45 cm's

At the end of the day, Mother Nature decided to give us a preview of the
big snowstorm that’s due to arrive overnight tonight, and on through tomorrow.

Last Run “Tomorrow” Preview:

The current hourly Weather Network Forecast shows snowfall
starting at 4:00 A.M., so considering Mother Natures preview
above shows the reality starting about 12 hours in advance,
hopefully, we’ll see a great head-start at sunrise.

The extensive Groomed inventory is all set to be a spectacular
base for receiving the New Snow forecast, and the Sous Bois,
Glades are all focused on the sky, waiting with open tree arms for
a major re-boot.

There is some possibility tomorrow could fall into the “Epic” category.

If the traffic is as light as today, then it could be, maybe even “Legendary".

102/102(*) Open Trails on all 4 Sectors at #Tremblant .

Some of the best groomed Ski/Board surfaces were within
the Green’s and the Blue’s yesterday as they were the focus
of Mountain Crews during the dropping temps.

That is likely to be the case again this morning. The difference
is the much higher probability of a more wide-spread consistency of loose,
carve-able top layers over the length and breath of all groomed trails
as the result of the very fine work of Tremblant’s Mountain Op’s night-shift.

Due to the fact that yesterdays surfaces did not soften to the degree
the forecast potentially had shown could happen, at least we have
the “Day 2” grooming benefit today which typically renders those desirable
deeper top layers that make the groomers so much fun to carve up.

As an indicator of that more universal quality, we see there are only
a fraction of the “Progressive Trail Openings” that were there yesterday.

A Short Editorial Ski Function "Tune-Up”:

Well tuned edges will continue to be your single greatest performance
asset.
No matter what technique you have, what great form you can show,
the only thing that facilitates all the fancy control moves you can make
are those thin, very fine metal edges and if they are dull, you automatically
loose the most significant mechanical advantage you have when “Firm” or “icy”
may be in the conditions mix.

The Very Same Skis You See In The Machine Above Are
The Very Same Pair You See On The Trail Below.

They are a 10 year old set of Used Atomic Race SL-D2 purchased from
an Internet Trading Site for about 15% of their original price. They had
very little use and looked almost brand new. We are not rich, no one
sponsors us with free skis, and we have to pay for our Skis and tuneups
like everybody else.(It should be noted that we would be very happy to
have a Ski sponsorship if such were possible...)

This is proof that you do not need to be rich to enjoy this sport at the very
highest levels of recreational performance possible. All you need to do
is shop patiently and intelligently for durable high quality, then take very
good care of them. Basically, the Ski Shop at Tremblant allows you to do
the “take very good care of them” part with their crazy-good, overnight
Tuneup Service, and at just around $40.00 bucks(winter 2020), it is a
ridiculously good deal.

Tremblant Crews Always Prioritize Greens/Blues after
any significant Weather events.

All Skill Levels can benefit from a “Back To Basics” focus after
any disruptive weather and this shot of lower Nansen from yesterday
is a prime example of how much fun and technical quality can be
found in the Green trail availability every single day at Tremblant.

From Beginners to Experts, everyone was enjoying the super-smooth
and easy surfaces on Nansen where Day-1 learning is just as much
fun as Expert technical carving over wide expanses where mixed
skill sets can safely share.

Weather Notes:

Great News For Skiing...
Bad News For Driving...

Conditions Notes:

Cool, Fast Fun, if you are prepared with tuned gear.

Last nights grooming shift should have produced a noticeable
increase in refinements of both the depth of loose top layers
as well as the scope of that improved quality over a far wider
range of square area.

The advantage will continue to be in Green and Blue rated terrain,
but with low mid-week traffic volume, there should be fairly good
all-day durability across all Skill Level terrain.

In the Sous Bois, Hors Piste, Glades, and un-groomed, it’s a la Carte,
and you need to explore responsibly in all initial descents. There are
natural hazards out there so first-pass caution is essential to avoid
those potential contacts.

--------------- 9:00 A.M T360 Fan Submitted Update Insert -------------------

Consistent with the idea that there would be an overall improvement
across the range of groomed terrain today, we have the following T360
Fan submitted iPhone’d pic. and comment.

"Chilly out, but groomed runs are good and fast.
There’s not much traffic, feels like a private club!”

Regional Commuters really need to pay
attention to the driving hazards over the
next 48 hours.

Of course... great news for near-term Skiing plans
into the weekend and beyond.
