T360 Apres Midnight, Apres Ski Edit Under Construct @ 12:21 A.M.

A warm and near-ideal compaction/groomed, super high
performance Ski/Board conditions day where we got virtually all the
“Best Case” performance potential we were forecasting possible.
Overcast, flat light contrast not so good for pic’s however, but who
cares when it’s...

A Fly Under The Radar Day Of Joyful Excellence
To Share With Friends And Team Members...

And For Your Info.Ski Conditions Are Great!

The Basis For All Excellence Is Abundant,
Very High Quality Natural Snow.

This is a “Today" snow sample in an Open Sous Bois zone
between Trail # 66, Le Tunnel, and # 65, Banzai Bas, Lower.

Then, On The Refined Slopes Designated For Grooming:

Within 50 metres laterally of the pic. above,
there’s very close to flawless grooming on MCA, # 64.

Only one sample of dozens and dozens. Fabulous Effort
Fabulous Results, brought to you by Tremblant Mountain Crews!

(This below is one of the main reasons we say “Fly Under The Radar”,
because as obvious as the immaculate fresh grooming is, this trail
is not shown with “Grooming Icons” on the Official PDF list. We think
this is not intentional, it is likely just a data entry glitch, but if you
took the trouble of actually going there, you got an instant bonus
surprise of this trail's grooming refinement excellence.)

Below:

Some important things about this McCulloch Summit Pitch Scene:

- While a wee bit soft and fuzzy due to misty cloud fog, this pic
is 100% accurate on the smooth speed it conveys.

- The Skier can be seen with goggles up. That was necessitated by the
minute cloud mist particles that coated lens. Skiing with goggles up
was not painful on eyes either, so for safe descents at the speed the
surfaces would easily support, it was a good vision option.

-The background blur is the double safety net of the Race Course edge.
After the event, the course was opened to the public and the very carefully
groomed surfaces held the visibly obvious smoothness with complete
and continuous integrity for the entire Summit Pitch descent zone.

There was some foggy, there was about an hour of Misty Cool Goggle
Particles... but you could wipe them off by hand easily. The Skiing
here, immaculately smooth. Versant Sud/South Side did have the most
cloud fog, but, there was very little(beyond affecting photography),
and nothing significant, coming out of it.

No Rain, not a drop, nada, zippo, none...

Basically, we got scenario #3, from our "Weather Notes”, contained
in the Orig. Post, below.

Tomorrow “Sunny” and a daytime high temp forecast @ +4C,
so it’s going to end up very “Spring-Like”, but with FULL Winter Coverage!

It’s a dull looking day out so we’re adding a colourful splash of
Photo-Art(#) just for the fun of it, and as reminder that no matter
the weather, you can always find the colours of fun at Tremblant!

(#) Photo-Art is an optimistic way of looking at camera error?
What we were looking for here was actually the flag on the distant
Summit Observation Deck which you can see in the blur, but what
we got was the Auto-Focus picking up the big, fat, falling snowflakes
immediately in front of the lens, generating this sort-of cool “Depth
of field” out of focus background effect. We were going to throw this
one away, but after hovering over the “Delete” button for a while
we decided there is something either fun or artsy worth keeping,
not to mention the implications of snowfall so thick it can fool the
auto-focus of a sensitive camera. Over half a metre of snowfall in 72 hours.

Furthermore... As The Basis For All The Excellence You Will Find Today:

If you take all those big, fat, fluffy snowflakes that fooled the camera,
and put them into time/dimensional perspective, within an hour, and
within 250 metres(as the crow flies), from the site above, there’s this:

(Those are 160cm’s Skis pushed straight into the snow and they
do not touch the ground because the Ski brakes and rear bindings
are so jammed with snow and they could not be pushed in further,
consequently, we do not know the actual snow depth here other than “More”.
This is an untracked, Open, Sous Bois/Glade zone between Le Tunnel, #66,
and Banzai Bas, Lower, #65.)

This Snow Has Not Gone Anywhere,
As A Matter Of Fact, There’s 28cm's More.

All this very rapid accumulation of fresh snow has permanently
altered the rest of the Ski Season here at Tremblant in a very
positive way. It has also caused some more demanding daily
conditions situations as sudden very deep snow always does,
but we are now on Day-4 of the incrementally improving grooming
cycles that have followed and once again, just in time to effectively
cope with the upcoming weather dynamic forecasted to begin with
more warmth and mixed precipitation today.

Along with all the new snow, and all the grooming cycles to
get to near-ideal trail surface compaction, we have also experienced
a sequence of very deep, cold, overnight low temps.
It is our theory that this combination of authentic “Winter”
factors has generated a very resilient base that will be very
capable of holding both coverage and quality for many weeks
to follow.

At only March 2, there is still plenty of time to plan Ski days
and Holidays and with the courtesy of Mother Natures recent
“Winter, Re-Boot V.2.0” with a total of almost 60cm’s of natural
snow in roughly a week, there’s loads and loads of reserves to
easily make for an excellent Spring Skiing forecast.

Weather Notes:

Most people are going to look at this forecast and freak out
over the rain icons, so what we need to remind everyone
of, is that with the typical elevation differential of -4C cooler
for up at Mountain heights, over 2000 vertical feet above Resort
Base Level, there is some probability that it could be, maybe,
possibly, have some chance of, being all Snow, especially when
the forecast indicates snow initially at Sud/South Base Levels.

The other chance with fair probability is that the cloud “Ceiling”
is typically low over the base levels and the Mountain may be
in the clouds. Typically, rain falls below the clouds, not in the clouds.
Therefore, another alternative weather scenario exists where the
Mountain does not see the same conditions as base levels.

A third chance of some probability is that even if it is rainy, the light
icons in the forecast typically mean the precipitation occurs in bands
of activity that are passing through. So, if by coincidence, no bands of
active weather pass over the Mountain, but pass around the Mountain,
it could remain dry on the slopes all day.

We could be wrong on anything or everything, so we will bring the trusty
Descente Poncho anyway and hope for the best case “Snow” possibility
referred to above.

Conditions Notes:

24 hours ago it was -24C, and that was the last of a sequence
of low overnight cold temps that we think will extend the durability
of the groomed base for a number of days before we see any
thermal influences from the forecast.

Today, in and of itself, should be all winter all morning, but depending
on how the weather and precipitation actually go, there could be
multiple possibilities for this afternoon, at least atmospherically speaking.

Groomed trail-surface-wise, we think it should be nothing other than
technical excellence in speed and traction. Subjectively, conditions always
seem to improve as temps rise, so it certainly appears as though today
fits that profile very well.

In the Sous Bois, we think the residual cold will hold great conditions
all day. With the sheltering canopy of the trees, even if it’s light rain,
it could take hours to filter down through. With all the cold still in the
bush snowpack, light rain could set up a bit of a crust when it hits, but
as far as we are concerned it would be of little functional consequence.

you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.)
