Experts “Powder Alert!!!"

The Single Largest Natural Snowfall Event Of The Season... So Far.

Mother Nature has gifted Tremblant with exactly the type
of Natural Snowfall event necessary to instantly elevate all
potential conditions overnight.

And Everything Between...

No doubt though, this much new snow all at one time
definitely favours Experts, especially as the day progresses
with traffic related evolution of trail use.

Here is a Summit Web Cam scene from “Last Run” yesterday at 3:53 P.M.
and as annotated within, significant snowfall accumulations are already
visible. Please note: this image was intended for yesterday inclusion,
however we reached the attachment limit for that post so we are including
it here for time/weather event continuity.

Conditions Notes:

While 30 CM’s of new natural snow conjures up fanciful images of Powder Snow,
from a practical point, it will take Mountain Crews between now and 3 days or so
to integrate such an immense amount of raw depth into the Groomed trail array.

There will be some zones that get very good compaction overnight because
they may be groomed over twice due to being access trails, like Beauchemin
Bas/Lower for only one example, where those trails are linked to other trails
or sectors(like the Edge Sector in this case), that also need to be groomed
and that’s the only way to get to them. Another similar example could be
Fuddle-Duddle Bas/Lower that may get multiple grooming passes due to
access to or from La Griffe, when it is also groomed.

Otherwise, trails or zones that only get a single pass may take 2 or even 3
overnight grooming cycles to reach optimized compaction.

For that reason, it is necessary for all Tremblant Beginner and Intermediate
Guests to remain within their respective Green and Blue Skill Level rated
trails until safe descent condition can be confirmed.

Fresh, deep, abundant new snow can be prone to tracking and/or mogul
formations evolving during open hours because of uncompressed loft(#)
within the top layers that are still very soft throughout their depths. We
urge all Beginner and Intermediate Guests to be patient while Crews
work to reach all the far corners of the trail network. ((#)If you look at the
ski closest to the lens in the “Gagnon” reference above, you will see
exactly what we mean by “Loft” where the tip of that ski has sunk into
and displaced almost enough snow to cover itself with nothing other
than its own weight, even on a freshly groomed track.)

For Beginners specifically, on the Sud/South, Nansen, La Passe, and
on the Nord/North, P’tit Bonheur, Letendre and Beauchemin Bas/Lower
should be the very best initial options.

We recommend Beginners and Intermediates consult with “Info.Ski”
Crews to guide them to the terrain appropriate for their individual
skills.

It is very likely that traffic may cause significant evolution in conditions
today. Do not assume that trails will be in the same shape from a run
this morning to a run this afternoon.

For Experts... We can tell you for a fact that there will be wind-shaped
drifting, over, around, near topographical contours that will be close
to, if not more than double the Official total. They may be small localized
zones, but they will be there. It is your mission to find them, then use
them safely for as long as you have adequate muscle reserves.

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.)
