With the Elevation Differential of a typical -4 C spread to the Summit, that
means a First Tracks forecast of around -20C and we think that qualifies
as a component of “Essential Winter”.

Yesterday we wrote about the absolute necessity of sequential super-cool
days to drive frost levels deeper into the mass of the Mountain, and since
there’s nothing we can do about the weather, at least we can intellectually
appreciate the ongoing benefits to seasonal durability while we bundle up.

Weather Notes:

Today represents a significant milestone in the annual progression
of the Earth’s rotation on its axis. For the very first time, literally,
the sunset hour hits 5:00 P.M. When you compare that to the sunset
hour of Opening Day, November 24, 2020, at 4:15 P.M., you may be
able to appreciate the functional enhancement to vision that reduces
shadow and significantly improves contrast for the entire span of
open hours as the sun gets noticeably higher in the sky.

Otherwise, and additional to the above “super-cool” reference, we
can mentally prepare for tomorrow too, it looks like tonights overnight
low may produce the coldest night of the year so-far. This evening you
will want to root through the bottom of your Ski-kit bag to dig out all the
layers you’ve got and get ready to put ‘em all on at once.

Conditions Notes:

It’s the weekend, so statistically attendance would be greater, however
in the current Pandemic Covid-19 influenced pattern of human participations,
it is likely that trail traffic will be quite a bit less than usual, and lift-line
wait times may occur due to social distancing 2 metre spacing required
in the upload feeder corals.

We could be wrong on the lift-lines. The “Stay at Home” orders in regional
areas, as well as the cold temp’s may keep the lines either short or walk-on.
Generally though, with 98 open trails over 717 acres, we just don’t think
there will be any significant traffic density anywhere other than maybe some
Base levels.

We think it is evident that the morning’s usual upload peak was probably
later than normal due to cool initial temps. Even though the Sud/South
Gondola line looks a bit long(especially compared to Nord/North Base
Duncan/Expo Quad’s), it only appears that way due to single-file and
2 metre spacing across the corral Q’s required for Covid-19 protocols.
We estimate the wait here at between 7 to 10 min’s which is not unusual
for Saturday Morning’s first ride up.

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.)
