98(*) Open Trails.

Of Dubious Distinction:

It’s The Coldest Morning Of The Season So-Far.

At -29 C, it’s legitimate "Cold Weather Warning” territory,
especially for little kids who may not be able to effectively
communicate the detail of their experience as it is happening.
For that reason we recommend a late/deferred start for families
with young children until around 9:30 to 10:00 A.M. when the
sun begins to build some thermal support.

Thankfully the winds are calm, so there will be direct and
significant solar energy transmission when you can safely
stop trail-side to absorb rays. Where that is possible, you
will be able to feel heat in less than a minute if you have
dark outer layers on.

Weather Notes:

Obviously very cool in absolute degrees, however with
such low wind velocity the temps will be surprisingly easy
to tolerate when you are not in motion. Conversely, it is
when you are in motion that you will absolutely notice
coolness with the relative air speeds of descent.

Notwithstanding current Covid-19 attendance restrictions...
If you were a native of warmer climates up to have a winter
skiing experience, today would actually a really interesting
experiment day because by standing still and feeling solar
warmth, then comparing that to moving and feeling cold,
you realize the actual physical difference “Wind Chill” air
velocity makes.

Conditions Notes:

The Groomed trail surfaces should be immaculately smooth
across the entire range of skill levels, however for first tracks
and maybe even a bit beyond, there could be elevated rates
of friction as super-cool cryogenic snow can also be so dry
that it does not have the same easy glide it does at temps
in mid-minus twenties or warmer.

That possibility may make it easier to try steeper pitches
however it may also make it necessary to build a little speed
to traverse plateaus, especially for our friends on Snowboards.

In the Sous Bois, Glades, Hors Piste, and Un-Groomed categories,
super-cool is typically a big asset in generating lightness within
the snowpack, so we would expect a generalized benefit right
across the board if you like to explore the bush.

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.)
