The Signs Of Winter Are Clear, Cool, And Crisp.

All Night Long...

Today is a prime example of the kind of winter
performance we can get from what we can call
cryogenic snow. This super-cool snow is extremely
dry and when you walk over it as a packed/compressed
surface, it emits a “Creaking” noise with every step.
We also call it “Squeaky” snow as that is the way many
who experience it for the first time will perceive the
audible qualities when walking over it.
In Pre-Covid-19 days, hopefully again at some
future point referred to as Post-Covid-19 days...
Tremblant Guests from Florida and other Southern
States, Mexico, Brazil, the Caribbean Islands, England
(and any other examples of warmer places we have
met people from who come to Tremblant for a
“White Christmas”), have, or are going to, experience
this “Squeaky” cryo-snow for the first time.
What we appreciate with it is the mechanical
advantage cryo-snow has for Alpine Snow
Sports, i.e, Skiing and Boarding, because the
combination of very high lateral grip and
super-quick natural speed are unique and
distinct from other forms of trail base snowpack.
Additionally, what makes it great for Experts,
i.e. low friction, high traction, also makes it
excellent for Beginners and Intermediates.
This cold, crisp snow is typically very forgiving
in the sense that little errors are quickly absorbed
by the surfaces without harsh feedback. It may
seem counter-intuitive, but the “Slip” and the “Grip”
are equally enabling in skills development and
when Beginners can combine that with Green, easy
descents of up to 6 continuous kilometres, such as
“Nansen”, even those who have never-ever been on
Skis or Board, can make very rapid learning progress.
Weather Notes:
There is an evident temperature inversion between
Summit and Resort levels this morning as the
indicated difference is shown at -4C cooler below
at the Sud/South base, compared to the Summit
graphic with the zoom-in detail above.
Conditions Notes:
Expanding scope of technical excellence across
all skill level rated groomed terrain. This is a
natural progression that consistently occurs
when the temps are a stable sub-zero C for
consecutive 24hour daily cycles. In this case
we have a little "Cold Snap” in its second day
and the course of last nights grooming shift
should see some really spectacular performance
today.
--------------- 6:13 P.M. Apres Ski Insert Update: -----------------
12.20.21.Summit.Web.Cam.Weather.Conditions.Observations.At.6.13.PM.a.jpg
What is important here is new snowfall filling in the blanks
of earlier machine tracks, while Mother Nature maintains
the “Cool” in the very cool current ski conditions!
If the hourly forecast holds true, we could see some
significant differences by morning... See you then!

If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.
When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.
There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.
(

First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.)
