Cup Freestyle Mogul Competition detailed above.

We are always inspired by competition athletes and in this
case it just so happens that Canada has a leading slate.

Another sort-of unintended bonus from all the prep. work
on Flying Mile is that the snowmaking put in place here
necessary to generate the precise descent angle for the
F.I.S. World Cup Freestyle Event is by our estimate, upwards
of 15 feet thick over the sector peak and down the upper part
of the pitch. Given nothing other than “average” winter weather,
there will be great conditions, supported by tremendous depth
reserves on this trail, right on up ’til April 18, the scheduled
seasons close.
Weather Notes:
Look closely at the indicated wind speeds. When combined
with an overall sunny atmosphere, there is wonderful potential
for a magnificent day that feels a lot warmer than the temp’s
are posted at.

Conditions Notes:
Conditions are quite good with a basic groomed smoothness that
makes anything, and everything else easier, however, there are two
interrelated topics affecting conditions to variable degrees, a firm
base and Holiday traffic. Initial morning groomed trails are very fine,
but as the Holiday guests arrive, some zones of wear begin to appear
and develop over some crests and the pitches below as the day passes.
This is not everywhere, and the patterns of use become recognizable,
so you can anticipate them for the most part and either skirt around
them or traverse over them at an appropriately reduced speed.
The amount of expanding terrain is certainly helping to spread the
load and a review of the snowmaking icons in the Official trail
data shows more on the way. Of course this is all relatively normal
for the Xmas/New Years busy time, but we have had particular feedback
that based on previous Holiday time periods, the traffic may be slightly
less than average, certainly less than peak weekends.
We also like to point out that trails prepared for racing, then reopened
to the public are great candidates for optimized conditions. The example
we’d like to site today is McCulloch. It’s immaculate race course grooming
has been evident to all recently riding up the TGV Quad, it’s shown as an
open trail today, and we think it will be spectacular.
As far as the Sous Bois/Hors Piste and Un-Groomed open trails,
all you need to do is see the rapid expansion of the Edge Sector
Sous Bois zones for insight into just how good things are getting
for these Expert favourites.
