WINTER STORM WARNING:

Tremblant will experience a Winter Storm
system that may produce up to 30 cm of
SNOW in a 24 hour period.

(Please see follow-up evening reply post below for
Torch, Blizzard and T-66 News)

"Winter Storm" equals "Good News" for skiers and boarders
anxious to see more natural snow and this system approaching
the Mountain now could certainly deliver.

The open trail count remains at 5 this morning, but the
prospect of up to 30cm of fresh snow would radically
change things and we can't wait to see this system move
in and put a big load of natural snow on top of our base.

Of course, any big accumulation like that will help speed
up the opening of more terrain and in our case, help
Tremblant's preparations for the upcoming 24 Hour
Children's Charity Fundraiser.

Getting back to today's conditions, we can expect a fairly
strong East wind with this big Snow event, so riding up
the Lowell Thomas Chair will place the wind coming over
your left shoulder from slightly behind. If you're properly
bundled up, it shouldn't be any problem and... You'll have
a great view of all that fresh new snow building up by the minute!

The "Big Snow" is expected to start at around 10 A.M. and
continue until at least 3 P.M., so together with "Blowing and
Drifting" factors, we could see some really huge accumulations,
particularly where the wind dumps snow in the lee of trail edges.

Summit temp's today will be at around -14C, so when combined
with the brisk Easterly wind, you'll need to bundled up for maximum
comfort.

The Olympic Torch arrives at Tremblant at 10:00am. or so, and as
you can see, there is a Podium set up at the base of the Cabriolet
to host this historic moment.

In other Tremblant news:

This is one we really like... Snow Making continues on the North Side
from "Top to Bottom". As you can see here below, Snow Guns are set
up all the way to the base of the Expo Chair which means we're gearing
up to have Beauchemin opened all the way soon!

Early Eve Update:

Well that was quite a day.

The first big news of the day was the arrival of the Olympic Torch
relay at the South Side base of the Cabriolet. There was a very good
crowd out to see it and the parade through the resort village was
very enthusiastic. Considering the snow storm was just getting
underway, there was a surprisingly large attendance to witness
this little moment in Olympic History.

This mornings surface conditions were slightly improved over yesterday
after a bit of early snow. This is still a time when good technical skills
will help a lot and speed control is absolutely essential. The additional
snow we are receiving now will make a difference and the Mountain
crews will probably be working through the night to help Mother
Nature spread it around.

Unfortunately the wind velocity rose to the point that it was not safe
to operate the lifts. The wind was literally trying to push the Gondola
and lift chairs sideways which means they can potentially jam on
entry at either end.

Consequently, the Mountain was closed at just around noon hour
and people were down loaded to the South Side base in the Gondola
at a reduced speed so that the individual cars could be safely docked.

Another big News item is the rescheduled T-66 program calender that
as had days added as a result of the lost days due to late November
warm weather. Local and regional residents that live within the T-66
qualified postal codes will be happy to know that extra days have
been added to bring the total back up to the 66 from date the
Mountain opened.

The T-66 is a great program that allows local/regional people to
bulk purchase a "Bundle" of 66 days of Mountain use, chosen by
Tremblant in advance, for a highly discounted price. This program
can make a huge difference in affordability and we thank Tremblant
for keeping it going. It's a great program and every skier and boarder
that lives within the prefixed postal codes G, H, J or K should take a
serious look at it.

In our opinion, if you live in these postal codes you can not afford
to miss it. Think of it this way... for the price of between 3 to 5 days
any where else, you can have 66 days at Tremblant... that's a "No Brainer".
