Now this is more like Winter!

Snow on the ground, snow on the roof tops,
snow in the trees, snow in the air....
there's lots of snow everywhere!

That 's a pretty good way to start off a Ski/Board Tremblant
Conditions report!

The Official Snow Report from http://www.tremblant.ca shows
us with 6 open runs, up 1 from yesterday. The additional run
open will not make any difference to your ski/board experience
though, as it is a small connector run at the South Side base
that can not be reached from the existing open terrain at the
top of the Mountain. In all likelihood, it is being prepared as
part of the base terrain required to run the 24 Hour Children’s
Charity Fundraiser. Goto: http://www.24htremblant.com/ski/en/
for more information on this very worthy cause.

The big difference from yesterday is all the fresh snow that the big
winter storm system brought to the Mountain. The blowing and
drifting due to the high winds, will have created accumulation
primarily along trail sides as the wide open surfaces had too
much exposure to high velocity wind to accumulate. The Mountain
Crews at Tremblant will have worked all night to distribute Mother
Natures fresh Snow as best they can, so our snow surfaces will
definitely see quite a bit of improvement. We will post Twitter
updates from the Mountain during the day so be sure to check
out the latest news as it happens.

The weather today starts off at -3C at the base under cloudy skies
with a very nice, periodic snowfall that sets a very Wintery, Christmas
like feel and looking out the window it really feels like winter finally.
The summit temps should be right around -4 to -5C. There is even
a possibility of some cheerful sunny breaks in our skies today. One
thing that helps with the Winter "Feel" is the apperance of "Snow Banks”
where plowed/shoveled snow is building up on the road sides, sidewalks,
doorways etc.

The temps should stay at this mild -3C mark all day with moderate
South-West winds at around 15km, so it will be very easy to handle
on the mountain and you should be able to get away with a good
shell instead of a parka today. This wind direction means the breezes
will be coming across the Mountain from the Soliel Side, so riding
up the Lowell Thomas chair lift, they will be going from left to right.
There should be good shelter from the wind from the most part,
but you may feel a bit of it as you reach the peak.

It's great to be on the Mountain again and all this winter weather is
just what we need. Get out and go Skiing or Boarding at Tremblant,
it's worth the effort.

This is the best and only view out of the summit web cams this morning as the big snow storm has coated the web cam protective shell except for this tiny corner looking out towards the Lowell Thomas Chair. The windblown shapes of snow make an interesting and dramatic statement about the wind that shaped them.

Preparations are in full swing for the 24 Hour Childrens Charity Fundraiser coming up this weekend. The added benefit here is the knowledge that the Mountain will be open Top to Bottom very soon!

This is a great "Comfort" snap shot... it's always good to see the North Side building snow coverage, lets keep our fingers crossed for more snow!
