100(*) Open Trails On All 4 Sectors At #Tremblant .
Tremblant Is Beautiful.
Cool, But Beautiful.

What you see above is representative of the vast majority
of groomed terrain at Tremblant, miles and miles, acres
and acres of super-smooth trails for just about as far as
the eye can see.
Statistically, we are within the “Mid-Season” time period
considering we are now over 2 months, some 60 days
into this winter, and there is a quite good base of natural
accumulation at 257cm’s. With that said, we do think it’s
possible we could see some additional grooming refinements
in the future that may expand the easy utility within zones
that historically get those benefits as we reach what we
refer to as “The fullness of seasonal maturity”. The mini
case study we’ve been looking at is Versant Nord/North
Side trail # 65, Banzai.

The Fan-Feedback we got yesterday on this
trail was that is was “Knarly”, describing it as
very difficult, with a few Precambrian rocky bits
punctuating the mogul trough’s. This trail is
certainly its legitimate posted Black Diamond
Expert skill rating right now, but what typically
begins to happen at some point in the mid-season
period, is that this trail and its adjacent neighbours
can get groomed, and that is when clinically, their
utility expands almost exponentially in terms
of a far wider range of skill level use. We look
forward to that possibility as a symbolic attainment
of refined seasonal maturity and we encourage
confident Intermediates with good “Parallel” style
turning skills to keep an eye on this zone as a
prime target for skills development if/when groomed.
Otherwise, in the main boulevards that are groomed
on a daily basis, there should be superb excellence
with all-day reliability today.
Weather Notes:
At some point, which many would consider to be
just about now, Mother Nature goes from a
“Cold-Snap”, to a “Cold-Spell”, i.e., from a
short time-span to a longer time-span.
Whatever you call it, it sure is another
KKKkkkool one today.
Fortunately, the forecast for a warmer tomorrow
of up to -9C is going to provide a little relief.
Environment Canada Extreme Cold Warning:
Conditions Notes:
----------- Conditions Caveat: -------------
The combination of ambient wind speed plus
facing headwind descent speeds may generate
wind-chill effects into -50’sC. Extreme Caution
Is Warranted In All Early Hours Until Temps Rise.
------------------------------------
Once again, we begin with the unique alteration of
performance from cryogenic snow that can behave
more like sand than snow because it is not warm
enough to facilitate sliding/gliding that naturally
occurs at temps above mid-minus 20’sC.
Once again, Trail # 14, Zig-Zag, may be “easy”,
or at least “easier” with the speed control over
gravity this super-dry, super-cold snow has.
What can we say, not a single thing we can do about
the weather other than dress for it, or... defer going
out until such time as it is practical to sustain outdoor
activity at warmer temps expected by the noon hour.
Sometime before noon, the conditions should morph
into normal performance ranges of glide and speed
as the cold becomes just cool.
All that, plus it being Monday of the work-week, and
it is highly probable that attendance could be light.
In the Sous Bois/Hors Piste and Un-Groomed group,
it has been several days since the last big snowfall
event, so while conditions are generally good, there
are some traffic generated hazard exposures and
caution with speed is warranted on all initial explorations
for both safety and proactive care of your ski/board gear.

If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.
When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.
There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.
(

First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.)
