At The End Of The Day...
Base levels got feeling warm, but up on the Mountain,
it stayed nice and cool all day long...
2.7.22.Summit.Last.Run.Apres.Ski.Weather.Observations.b.jpg
The skiing was fabulous.
The “Breezes” were just enough to convey a little
bit of edge to the cool for those in attendance, they
were also just cool enough to keep the snow nice
and dry.
The sun had just enough intensity to render a tiny
bit of humidity resistance on the snow surfaces
where it could work with direct facing radiation,
but if you skied much on Versant Nord, the North
Side, you would have eventually realized that there
was just a wee bit more speed, a wee bit more glide,
all thanks to being shaded behind the Summit.
The smoothness and control are exceptionally fine
and they are smooth and fine over entire descent
lines from Summit to Base, so if you stay on the
groomers, it’s hour after hour of amazing reliability
in high performance traction that is fed by your
enthusiasm and adrenaline. After a few hours
of that, the muscle demand eventually burns
through and you can feel it, but it is such a
good feeling of honest effort that you internally
register as a very very positive, skills and endurance
building experience. This is why you love skiing.
Skiing literally makes becoming fit, fun.
Below is a Summit level snow surface sample and
what you’re seeing is the very fine lines of shear
that skis make when the edges slide laterally across
the snow. These are very fine shear lines and they
almost instantaneously go from slip to grip. All
you need to do is apply a bit of edge angle and
in less than a blink you’re hooked up and gone.

As usual... the long views are spectacular.
2.7.22.Summit.Ridge.To.Erik.Guay.Cool.Snow.Sample.Views.c.jpg
For tomorrow... Mostly cloudy, similar temps,
maybe up a degree or two, with snowfall starting
around noon or shortly after. Another easy temp
and conditions day... we could get used to that!

Today is very close to the ideal concept of why
we call February the “Sweetheart” month...
2.7.22.PB.24.Let.Me.Help.You.With.That.Sweetheart.Couples.At.Tremblant.Summit.La.Crete.b.jpg
Very fine to excellent within all groomed, rated skill levels.
Very easy typical winter temp ranges.
Very light, low season work-day traffic.
100% Open
100% Fun.
100% Technical challenge.
100% Easy, effective and quick learning.
If you live on Long Island N.Y., Hampshire U.K. or
Toronto Ont., today is why you can book this high
value week back in Sept. with such high confidence.

Above: This is a slightly wider angle Version 2 of the
pic. we ran yesterday. On the extreme left, the small
white trail section you can see additionally is the
Mi Chemin pitch right adjacent to the Nansen Bas/Lower
entrance gate. From the Summit, to the Sud/South Resort
base, this Nansen circular perimeter route is 6 kilometres
in length, the longest single trail at Tremblant, and...
it is one of the very best “Green” learning environments in
the known Ski World.
Weather Notes:
Partially sunny, a lot warmer, and with low indicated wind-speed... Nice!
Conditions Notes:
Today definitely has significant potential to be
another “So-Far, Best-Of” day in the escalating
maturity of genuine, authentic, pure winter conditions.
As close as we may see the temps get to Zero C at
Sud/South Resort Base levels, up on the cooler
elevations we expect it to remain nicely below
with the resultant combination of excellence and
ease that should encompass the entire Mountain.
There is still room for increasing the scope of
grooming refinements with some additions to
the groomed trail inventory that usually occur
when we get to or around the 300cm’s accumulation
mark, however within the existing range, all currently
groomed trails are very well optimized for the fullness
of their dimensions in both width and length.
Additionally there has been excellent natural speed,
so sustained glide has also been at very high levels,
a definite bonus for Board Fans who can shoot across
most plateau’s without having to take a foot out.
2.7.22.PB.24.Nord.North.Duncan.Easy.Board.Traverse.Sample.At.Vanier.Plateau.c.jpg
One of the major contributors to the excellence
we think you’ll find today and for the foreseeable
future is what we refer to as “Thermal Momentum”,
where the chill in the hill has been the consequence
of a well below temp averages for over a month now.
Even though we’re seeing an immediate warming trend,
that deep injection of frost into the core of the Mountain
will have a lasting effect of radiating cool back out that
we will have the base stability benefits of, for the rest of
the season.
