These 2 pictures above and below tell you roughly 98.348% of
what you need to know about conditions today.
By any mark, excellent.

But Wait, There’s More...

The high quality of the surfaces extended to virtually
the entire range of groomed trail network, all skill levels,
all elevations. Every positive potential was realized, and
none of the questionable tipping points, i.e. for example
icy bits, that could have happened, did.

It’s just one of those situations where words fall really
short of describing all the positive attributes of the whole
experience, so if you are an experienced Skier/Boarder,
we hope you'll be able to see it clearly in these photos.

We can only summarize by saying it looks fantastic, because it is.

With any luck, we’ll be able think of adequate descriptives for the morning.
In the meantime, if there’s any chance you can go... do it.

The Magic 300.

First Day Of Season For Over 300cm’s of Snowfall Accumulation...

We consider 300 cm’s/3 metres/118 inches/10 feet, to be a
seasonal benchmark in the course of annual natural snowfall
accumulations. This level of ambient snowpack is one major
indicator of seasonal maturity.

One Year Ago Today We had 239cm’s of natural snow.
Today we have 302cm’s, so we are now a considerable
degree ahead of last season. We did not see this level
of natural snow last year until Feb. 24, so indeed, we
are 2 full weeks ahead and still climbing every day.

Otherwise...

In our opinion, the saving grace for the atmospheric warmth
yesterday was that it was overcast. At or near Zero C, the
intensity of direct solar force can have a huge effect on softness,
saturation, as well as additional temperature rises, so we were quite
happy to have an umbrella over the Mountain for the sake of
minimal surface warming and base stability. Indeed, this umbrella
effect prevented the Summit from breaking into “+” C values, so
the warmest it got up top was briefly to Zero C.

Conditions Notes:

Overall, we expect the groomed list to be very fine to excellent,
however...

There are several “Tipping Point” scenario’s today
due to the base level temperatures getting up to
+4C yesterday. The variable effect component is the
ambient frost temp within the base strata that has
consistently seen overnight low temps in the -20’s C,
even -30’s C for the past month. That frost has not gone
anywhere yet so regardless of whatever few hours of warm
happened, it would not have gotten below a handful of cm’s
or a couple of inches.

Additionally...

Thank goodness for 3cm’s of fresh snow because falling as
it did, just Apres Ski and into the early evening, there is very
positive potential that it has become an integrated component
of the grooming process that was occurring as the temp’s
dropped back below the very brief burp above Zero C.

We feel very confident that with the return to nicely below
Zero C this morning, there may also be a significant
enhancement to natural speed and glide. Obviously
there is some possibility of very firm top layers, but
the traffic has been very light, so we do not think
there will be any evident wear factors if that trend
continues today.

As usual for a post-thermal day, sharp edges on
skis or board will be an asset for optimal performance
just in case the firmness zones have any icy bits.

Almost all the notes in yesterday’s post regarding
Sous Bois/Hors Piste and Un-Groomed apply today,
so by using the “Previous Topic” tool bar buttons at
page top/bottom, you can review those for context .

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.)
