4/15/22 #Tremblant Conditions

T360 Late Night Apres Ski Edit, Under Construct At 11:27 P.M.
It Was A Yin/Yang Kind Of Day....
Skiing conditions were actually quite good within respective
skill level ratings and Mountain Crews hand posted quite a
few zones of challenge like this example below.
4.15.22.Nord.North.Superieur.Jasey.Jay.Yin.Yang.Conditions.Observations.d.jpg
It’s spring... It’s warm, everything is soft. The last 3 days of damp
warm weather have finally begun to visibly decrease trail-side
snowpack. It’s spring... It’s warm...
4.15.22.Lac.T.Views.Mt.T.Sky.Drama.d.jpg
Traffic was very light today, so there was little in the
way of stress on the freshly groomed, however as
a group, the recently groomed were showing substantial
mogul formations, so it was imperative to be very aware
of the challenge levels hand posted by the Ski Patrol.
A bit of a cooler overnight at Sud/South Base at -2C,
so things may be initially quite firm for first tracks,
but with the sunny forecast, it won’t take too long
to warm it all up again.
Summary:
Despite some more typical April warmth and showers,
the Alpine Snow Sports trail network continues to show
remarkable coverage and stability due to both the
substantially retained frost in the mass of the Mountain
as well as “Super Season” snowfall accumulations now
approaching 30% above seasonal averages.
Basically, fantastic conditions for any mid-April
closing weekend.

70(*) Open Trails On Versant Sud/South, Nord/North And Soleil Sectors At #Tremblant .
Forecast: Sunny Soft Fun!
It may take an hour or so, but warm and sunny
will definitely set the tone for the day quickly.
It’s been 4 days since the last sunny day...
but our forecast is for an exact repeat today.
4.11.22.Sud.South.Beauvallon.Haut.Upper.Wide.Open.White.Soft.Snow.Performance.Sample.d.jpg
We say “It may take an hour or so”, because the temps
have touched a degree or two, just under Zero C within
the local elevation strata. For example, local village hill-sides
have ice covered puddles in parking areas. Ice does not
form without sub-zero C, even if it’s a fraction of a degree.
That village elevation is just about parallel to the Flying Mile
sector of Versant Sud/South Side, so if it’s similarly effected,
there could be some firm or icy tendencies in the very early
hour or two until Mother Natures sunny heat lamp goes to “Max”.
4.11.22.Nord.North.Le.Tunnel.Expert.Mogul.Zone.Sample.jpg
Weather Notes:
A great day, for the most part. These kinds of forecasts
tend to end up at extremes of good or bad, so it may
end up supper sunny all day, or go whacky wet....
More of “Anything Goes” April, but we are bringing
the trusty Descente Poncho, just in case...
Conditions Notes:
The daily durability of the groomed trail array is going
to be directly proportional to the traffic volume, and
that, in our opinion, is a total wild card.
We thought there would be far larger groups of ski/board
enthusiasts out over recent weekends, but it seems as
though there may be other spring priorities as attendance
has the appearance of being on the light-side, and that
has meant exceptional all-day durability with less wear
stress on the groomed. If that scenario was similar today,
it would by extension, apply similarly to very favourable
quality for all of open hours.
We could be wrong. We should be wrong. Any serious
Ski/Board fan missing this exceptional degree of late
season coverage is nuts. Any serious Ski/Board fan
missing these exceptional closing weekend conditions
should immediately re-evaluate their priorities and
leave for Tremblant... now.

--------------- 9:29 A.M Insert Update: -----------------------
This is a Mini-Case Study illustrating our point about initial firm
trail surfaces. Versant Soleil Trail # 41, Toboggan is a benchmark
Tremblant trail of superb meandering directional and topographical
descent that is quite simply, one of the most fun, even thrilling, multi
skill level adaptable trails at Tremblant. It is as close to a Mother Nature
Roller-Coaster as you may ever find. It’s rolling pitches offer multiple
opportunities to float Zero gravity air-turns off its crests and the dips
are good for compressive G-Force on a repeating basis.
This morning it is all of initial firm and as the sun begins to really
build thermal energy, this trail is going to very quickly mature into
an outstanding example of very near ideal spring skiing of the best
possible blend of soft and fast. Super smooth, and super fun, there’s
a whole day of excellence to look forward to here.
4.15.22.Versant.Soleil.Toboggan.POV.Up.a.jpg
The real thrill potential of Toboggan lies within the
skill sets of those who are legitimate Front Side Carvers
where a relatively short radius Slalom style ski of say
between 11 to 13 metre turning radius can match the
actual descending trail dimensions. The natural banking
effect between successive downward contours can generate
immense alternating lateral grip potential for its entire path.
