Absolutely Fabulous For ANY April 17...
It Was An All Winter, -5C, Summit-To-Base,
Snowstorm At Tremblant Today, For 5(+/-) Hours.
Surprise, Surprise, Surprise!!!

Nansen... Multiple runs required purely for the unique fun of it on April 17 ???!!!
All 6 kilometres of Nansen felt like a wonderful, but somewhat
bizarre, and very snowy mid-winter time-warp. Extraordinary
wall-to-wall coverage with dense, heavily falling snow for
an unexpected mid-season flashback!

If you go back in this record to February 11, 2022, you could
just about substitute the snowfall similarities into this report... amazing....

It felt like a nice winter day at some point in February.
Cool, fast and then snowing hard. The new snow
was not as fast as the initial firmness of the cold
corduroy(see below), but in balance, any time you find
yourself in a snowstorm at Tremblant on the 17 of April,
you best fully express your appreciation to Mother Nature
because you’ve just had the very best gift possible for
a skier on the closing weekend of any season.
This pic. below is from mid-morning, literally a few
minutes before the snow began to fall. All of the snowy
pic.s above fell on this typical smooth, fast, trail surface
foundation, so when you look those highly snow-filtered,
obscured images, just imagine all that snow over this
immaculate base.

On top of every positive attribute of today itself,
tonight could see the Summit level overnight low
as far down as -12C?!?!? Wow... April 17???
What we could end up with is the cryogenic cold
shock necessary to cook out all the humidity in
the new snow, rendering out a very fast net effect,
especially where freshly groomed.
You do not need to be a Rocket Scientist to figure out
what all of this could mean for the last day of the season
tomorrow... extraordinary indeed.

Extraordinary Spring.
Wall-To-Wall, Summit-To-Base, For Any April 17, Truly Extraordinary.
The Evidence Speaks For Itself...

From the Summit pitch looking down(above), or from the first lower plateau
looking up(below), all you’re going to see is the total performance integrity
of Versant Sud/South Side haut/upper, trail # 18, McCulloch. This trail has
enjoyed a distinct mechanical advantage due to its frequent use as a race
event trail so the base has been immaculately prepared and maintained
throughout the season. Recreational skiers/boarders get all the advantage
of that course prep. from the moment it reopens for public use after each race
event, and due to the frequency of race events, the groomed quality between
them remains at a highly elevated level.
Another noteworthy attribute extending from this reliably smooth base has
been the multi skill level suitability for aspirational Intermediates that benefit
from very consistent surface quality as they move up in steepness challenge.

Below: Hard charging mogul mashers can always be found
on the Expo pitch and when it comes to a quad muscle
workout this one ranks up there at the top of the scale
as one of the longest, steepest, straight line pitches
at Tremblant.

Below: From the moment it opened way back last November, until
the last run of the last days of any season, Versant Nord/North
Side trail # 77, Beauchemin Bas/Lower has been a benchmark
of reliable groomed smoothness. One mechanical advantage
this trail has is that it is a major access corridor for grooming
operations that expand outwardly to other adjoining trails and
zones so it frequently gets multiple passes as machines circulate
to those adjacent areas.

Weather Notes:
The main reason for continued base stability:
4.16.22.Summit.Weather.Conditions.Observations.At.Last.Run.c.jpg
Conditions Notes:
In The Groomed Array:
The classic spring 24 hour oscillation profile of sub-zero C overnight
with a plus, above-zero C mid-day generates very firm mornings with
a rotating sweet-spots as the sun and wind soften trails on a gradual
basis.
In The Sous Bois/Hors Piste/Un-Groomed:
April 17 ? wow...
