Weather Notes:

For open hours today, wonderful early and easy winter conditions.

Looking Forward...

Conflict Of Interest.

When the snowfall forecast at a Ski Resort is for up to 60cm’s/2 feet
in less than a day, you’d expect to be thrilled, HOWEVER... when
that same forecast is also projecting wind gusts in excess of 100KMPH
YOU NEED TO BE FEARFUL.

This Is A Genuine “Do Not Risk Your Life” Driving Scenario. Period.

If these forecasted weather factors become the reality
we would expect a very high probability of Mountain
Operations to be effected. If these forecasted weather
factors become the reality we would expect a very high
probability that regional infrastructure, i.e., the electrical
power grid, to be effected.

Be Warned And Act Accordingly.
Emergency Weather Provisioning
Is A Legitimate Objective.

----------- Environment Canada Winter Storm Warning: --------------

Please Note: Forecast models indicate up to 60 cm’s/24in. of
potential snowfall with blowing winds in excess of 100KMPH
that will make driving dangerous. Avoid highway transit during
the Warning time period.

EXTREME DRIVING DANGER POTENTIAL: BE SAFE...
No Amount Of Enthusiasm Is Worth Risking
The Safety And Health Of Your Family.

Conditions Notes:

For today, clinically speaking... Very fine to excellent.

Soleil Sector On “Progressive” Opening Status.

Today is the very first new Sector opening since the start
of the season, so it’s a huge and very important occasion.
The newly opening descent path utilizing Trail # 40 Franc Sud,
to Trail # 95 Algonquin is an amazingly beautiful and technically
wonderful run to the Soleil Quad base that we fully endorse as
one of the top 5 Marquis Event trail openings of the whole season.

The Soleil Sector opening is what we expect to be the “Very Fine”
part of the forecast due to the “Break-in” phase that is typical of
newly opened terrain that has a primary component of blown
snow and is machine groomed to begin with. To the advantage
of this opening is the most recent 27cm’s of fresh snowfall
from last week that will be blended into the final trail surfaces.
This large addition of natural snow should be a perceptible
enhancement to the natural feel underfoot, compared to if it
had been only blown snow.

The “Excellent” portion should be all the previously open
groomed terrain that has now had multiple round the clock,
consecutive Sub-zero C days of refinements each and every
night.

Please Note: There are 2 Un-groomed au natural snow only
trails open, Versant Nord/North Side Marie-Claude Asselin,
and Banzai, both Haut/Upper portions, and we expect those
to be on-off-on again periodically with the provision of ratios
of traffic wear over fresh snowfall. Of course with a big, big
snowstorm on the way, not only could these remain open
from this point forward, but with the drifting factor possible
with the forecast amounts, there could be a huge expansion
of open Sous Bois/Glades, literally overnight.

For tomorrow... One look at all the potential weather and
you’d have to recognize we’ll need to be ready for anything,
and that could include reduced lift/trail access due to close
to hurricane velocity wind gusts.

(#) We are including this 1 trail revision because it is
a very popular Un-Groomed Double-Black Expert Trail,
Versant Nord/North Side CBC. The Un-groomed category
is completely dependant on au natural so even a small
expansion there, especially the first double Diamond
of the season, is important to note for early season.
