Very Beautiful, Very Fine, Very Functional
Fresh New Snowfall!
Yesterday Was A Bad Day For Photography,
But An Excellent Day For Skiing.
.... and it will add substantially to today’s quality.

The 11 cm’s of new snow fell for most of the Open Hours, and well
past and into the evening. During Open Hours, it was falling so thickly
that there were times when you barely see a dozen metres in front,
which presented a bit of a visual challenge on at least two levels.
The first was the low contrast of the dull grey ambient light
obscured by billions of falling snowy filters, the second was
the slight internal humidity of the snow particles that gave
them just a tinge of stickiness, so they did coat goggle lens
to variable degrees.
That very slight dampness, combined with the airy loft of
softness gave the trail surfaces a unique satin-like feel
of smoothness and traction underfoot and there were
literal run by run increases in grip and smoothness all
the way up to Last Run.
We think that those qualities should help to render out
some really extraordinary conditions this morning as
there should be a very well optimized grooming density
where the snow is freshly packed/compressed.
Weather Notes:
Very photogenic!
Conditions Notes:
In The Groomed:
All the reasons that made yesterday such a special
fresh snowfall experience, should make today an
extraordinarily fine groomed conditions day.
In The Sous Bois/Hors Piste/Glades And Un-Groomed:
Better every day after any new snowfall this substantial.
Access is still early season though, so once traffic begins
to establish wear patterns, there are some natural hazards
that can become evident. All Expert initial explorations should
be conducted with reduced speeds and with keen observations
of developing patterns that can be identified and taken into
consideration for safe passage.
Please Note The Attached Red Banner To The Bottom Of The
Official Trail Status Data Document.
The way we understand it, the Soleil Quad has been off-line
due to a glitch in the power transmission system that requires
parts and installation. We will attempt to confirm detail, however
the current bottom line is that it is not yet in service.
