--------- Supplementary Forecast Weather Data: ---------------
It turns out that good ‘ole dependable NOAA was within
one degree of accuracy on their forecast for the low
temp stat for today as you can see in the right-side
graphic of these two model projections. The Tremblant
specific forecast reference is highlighted with the annotated
white circle and was made back on Jan 28, 2023.

Weather Notes:
Cold-Snap, Day 2.
And... Fortunately the last day of this very short
Polar Vortex intrusion.
Please Also Note: It is common for the temp to actually drop
over the course of the early daytime hourly progression, so
we may see a further low temp mark from the time-point
of the graphic below.
--------- Environment Canada Extreme Cold Warning ------------
Potential Very Extreme Wind-Chill Values Due To COMBINED
Headwind And Descent Velocities Which Could Produce
-60’s C Wind-Chill For Quickly Moving Skiers/Boarders.
------ Excerpt Polar Vortex Text/Graphic From Our Annual Ski Season Forecast: ---------
"Spoiler Alert - The Polar Vortex
What we end up with over Eastern North America is a giant
stack of weather where there are active high/low pressure
systems running right over Earths surface, then at between
8 to 11 kilometres above, there is the push of the Jet Stream,
then above that to a potential height of up to 50 Kilometres,
the cyclonic action of the Polar Vortex to stir up the entire
cocktail, which can periodically produce quite an extreme
temperature mix."
What we have today, i.e. February 4, 2023, is literally the
“wavy” version of the Polar Vortex as illustrated in the lower
right corner of the graphic below.
Conditions Notes:
In the Groomed:
Clinically speaking, what happens at roughly -31C, is that
snow physically begins to perform like sand. Normally, Skis
and Boards work on snow the same way skates work on ice.
That is to say that friction between the metal edges of the skis
and the snow generates a molecular thin layer of lubricant water
that facilitates glide. At -31C and below, that does not occur the
same way, so there is typically a much higher coefficient of friction
in descent characteristics.
This makes steeper pitches seem far easier to execute all
control moves on, while shallow pitches seem much slower
to descend over due to this increase in friction.
Consequently, today has a very high probability of being
or seeming “slow”, everywhere. That does not mean you
can’t go fast though, gravity still works and trails like
Kandahar and Expo(as only 2 examples of many), will
still have tremendous speed potential just because they
are very steep to begin with.
In the Sous Bois/Hors Piste/Glades and Un-Groomed:
Descent quality will be highly individualistic due to
unique combinations of pitch angles, loose surface
snow and traffic generated bump/mogul patterns.
In this trail group there is typically less noticeable
cold influence due to the greater common steepness
of these zones that are almost exclusively Expert
challenge level steepness, so they may just seem
super-easy to navigate with some automatic speed
control.
-------- T360 Conditions Caveat: ------------
Extreme Hazard/Risk Of Frostbite Injury.
This Is A Legitimate Personal Safety Danger Zone.
Deep cold shock to the Human machine
can cause loss of feeling where in fingers
and especially feet, pain is not properly
registered. Additionally, even brief exposures
measured in seconds, exposed skin can be
damaged, so small gaps around helmet and
goggles for examples, can result in skin damage
that can affect you for weeks following.
This is a possible/likely no small children operational weather zone.

If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.
When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.
There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.
