101/102 Open Trails On All 4 Open Sectors At #Tremblant .
A Little Shot Of Cool, Winter Momentum,
Exactly What Our Season Needs.
Yesterday’s groomed performance sample featured a curl
of warmer snow from carved turning force, todays shows
the difference in the dusty character of the colder snow
that we expect to see for the next several days.

This one above also highlights one of the unique qualities
of Tremblant when the temps yesterday were floating around
Zero C with a bit of sunshine. That is the degree of deep blue
shadow behind the Summit that gives this Versant Nord/North
Side Expo Sector shade practically all day long. For that reason
this trail is an excellent example of many shadowed North zones
that did not get nearly the same degree of solar/thermal softening
and consequently they should have more loose top layer depth
consistency and be less prone to slick or icy bits that can happen
in the substrates after a refreeze.
In that way, we think today is going to be a day of exploratory nuance.
Ongoing F.I.S. Nor-Am Race Course Work On Flying Mile:
This is a very big deal for Tremblant.
The next step for Nor-Am Racers is World Cup and/or Olympics.
The Racers You See At Tremblant Next Week
Are The Future World Cup Champions And
Olympic Gold Medal Winners.
PLUS... It is the “Test” event for the F.I.S. Women’s World Cup
Event on this same course, planned for next December.

Weather Notes:
When you look at the 30 year historic daily high temp
average for this date you’ll see its just a fraction below
Zero C, so it would not be uncommon to be experiencing
a “February Thaw” or two by now in terms of statistical
probability. An extended period of well below Zero now
(what we refer to as “Winter Momentum” above), will add
an enhanced degree of durability to the trail base for
many, many weeks, in our opinion, well into March,
so this little shot of cool is just about perfectly timed.
Think of it as a relatively gentle winter reboot.
----------- Supplementary Weather Forecast Data: --------------
Basically, today is the final day of the passing Texas Low
that started out several days ago with an extended line of
over 4,000 Kilometres. We get about a 24 hour gap, then
the onset of the next active system, a Colorado Low, that
should constitute what we are calling a gentle winter reboot
because for these temps in February, they are still relatively
mild compared to the depths of a Polar Vortex influence.

Conditions Notes:
In the Groomed:
It is quite likely that there may be distinct differences in the range
and depths of groomed top layers the morning after a day that
saw a wee bit above Zero C, with just a touch of direct solar
energy on some facing slopes.
It is also likely that there could be some evolving slick or icy bits,
but we do think those will be relatively minor in relation to the
vast expanses of even smoothness. Obviously in a warm-to-cool
situation, well tuned gear will be a major asset in the variations
that may exist within descent lines over topographical contours.
There are quite likely going to be “Sweet Spots” for your skills
and we would encourage careful explorations with an eye out
for identifying patterns that make zones favourable for personal
enjoyment that can be worthy of repeat descents.
It is particularly important for Beginners and Intermediates
who are aspirational skill developers to warm up thoroughly
and work up in steepness challenge very gradually because it
will probably be as fast as a bullet. Speed may be subject to
very quick gravitational pull that take you out of safe stopping
capability in a heartbeat.
For the aspiring skill builders it is critical to come to a complete
stop at all topographical crests before starting any steep trail
segments, especially as the daily traffic patterns establish tracks
or zones of wear that can expose the firm base below those crests.
Look Before You Leap.
In the Sous Bois/Hors Piste/Glades and Un-Groomed:
Generally good, but still with variable conditions from very fine
to somewhat raw. What we need in this department is a good,
a big, a vigorous snow storm with a low wind component to help
even out the reserves. Due to the uniqueness of the individual
challenges...
Look Before You Leap... Experts Only Please.
Traffic Notes... There will be U.S. President’s Day guests who
make it a full ski week, there will not be the regional Ontario
Family Day long weekend guests who have all gone back to
Theirville, so the bottom line is we expect it to be an enthusiastic
but light crowd.

you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.
There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.
