T360 Midnight Apres Ski Quick Edit At 11:58 P.M.
It’s March 20, The first Official day of Spring!!!
But Still A Very Genuine, Authentic, “Winter” Day...
Here’s a bit of “Fuzzy” detail that’s going to
give you a clear picture about today...

It Stayed Winter Cool All Day....
3.20.23.Summit.Last.Run.Weather.Conditions.Observations.c.jpg
And... while the wind was pushing the snow
from Sud/South, to Nord/North, it was drifting
in below the Summit filling in quite nicely within
the Lowell Thomas sector...
There was a considerable degree of technical
excellence in select zones of all sectors.
More on all this in the morning, go if you can.

It’s Been Cool And Snowing For About 3 Days...
A Mid-March Winter Reboot.

Rug Rat Residuals:
One clue to finding exceptional trail quality examples
is to look for all the trails/zones that have been used
over the recent past as Race Course training. These
trails have had an extraordinary focus of grooming
preparation for the smoothness and even contour
shaping that are required for training tomorrows
Gold Cup winners.
Review the previous days Official Trail Lists and anything
that had a “Race” Icon should be fabulous today.

Rigodon,
Jasey-Jay-Jay,
McCulloch,
Nansen Pitch,
Flying Mile Haut/Upper,
Kandahar...
All 2 day recent Race Course prepared.

Weather Notes:
What we see with this weather profile is the potential
for a continuation of the recent trend of much cooler
winds aloft over the Mountains summit that have
consistently generated snowfall when the ground level
icons say mixed precipitation. We could be wrong, but
the experience of the past several days has shown
elevation differentials of as much as -9C, compared to
the usual -4C, which has been a tremendous asset for
retained snow quality and quantity when the ground levels
have been floating around Zero C.
Conditions Notes:
In the freshly Groomed:
Very high levels of fresh grooming refinements
due to the number 3 overnight-shift of grooming
in solidly below Zero C 24hr. days.
The absence of any thermal intrusion after the
last warm bit, plus nightly trail grooming, plus
roughly 10 cm’s of new snowfall, should all
combine to result in the increase of very fine,
and very wide ranging evenly soft and loose top
layers for a day of genuine winter performance.
It was -12 C pretty much all day yesterday
at the Summit, so we think that is going to
be evident all day today as a residual chill
in the hill that will influence the performance
envelop for the entire day, even though the
temps are rising.
If we are right about the precip. being all snow
all day over the trail network, we could see some
extraordinarily fine high performance front-side
carving conditions.
If that is the case, then what makes it good for
rapid transit Experts will also make it great for
Beginners and Intermediates. Smooth trails with
fresh snow works for everyone and we are expecting
a higher degree of forgiveness in all groomed trails
on an incrementally escalating basis compared to the
past couple of days.
In the Sous Bois/Hors Piste/Glades and Un-Groomed:
Another daily fingerprint of uniquely evolved surface
mixes that require careful explorations everywhere.
There are zones of excellence. There are zones of raw.
There are Expert only challenges that are the lingering
effects of the adverse weather of 3 days ago, so you
need to be very mindful and very observant for patterns
that can be reasonably expected in any given descent
pathway or zone.
The main pre-emptive modes of operation:
Scan, scan, scan, plus...
You want to carry low enough speed that line-of-sight
navigation will allow instant course correction for hazard
avoidance.
The Spring Break Holiday Guests Have All Gone Back To Theirville.
It should be a day of very quiet, private club-like ambiance
and all the local regular seasons pass holders are going to
be happy to once again find tranquillity restored to the
order of things.
Anyone else that had the brains and/or foresight to book
this week as a personal ski getaway week is going to be able
to get 30,000 to 40,000 vertical feet per day, easy, if they
have the muscle and stamina.
