First Time Ever, Sud/South Trail # 15, Tremblant360 Official Trail du Jour!

Due to other Apres Ski commitments we were not able to post this
last evening, however it is absolutely worth the statistical record
point of an unexpected, but nevertheless EXCELLENT and first time
ever for T360 to feature Versant Sud/South Side Trail # 15, Gaetan
Boucher as our Official “Trail du Jour”.

This little gem is rarely groomed and indeed, it was not even
recorded on the Official Open trail list yesterday as ever having
being groomed, so it flew completely under the radar all day
as a sublime example of how magnificent some of the narrow
inside trails can reveal a spectacular topographical character
when that character is not obstructed by huge uneven moguls.

Thank You Tremblant Mountain Op’s, A Genuine Special Treat!

Do we dare to wish for more? Trail # 15 squarely fits
into the same category as Trails # 64, 65, and 66. Period.
(maybe even Trail # 24 too.) It’s been a couple or three
weeks since they were last done and maybe, just maybe,
we’ll be lucky enough for one more pass.

They are examples of former “T-Bar” lifts, so they are
architecturally perfect fall line descents that quite simply
come alive when groomed, not to mention that they are
instantly accessible to X 10 more guests who are always
delighted to discover authentic, Pre-Cambrian, pure fall
line topographical descent perfection when they are safe
and easy.

We have no idea if the resources are available or ear-marked
for one more grooming refinement of 64/65/66, but for sure
we have fingers crossed for even some hope for the chance of it.

Otherwise...

Weather Notes:

So-far, in the adjacent Old Village of Mt. T., it has
not rained significantly beyond a few moments.
It snowed a few cm’s overnight and the little
sprinkles have not been enough to saturate the
snowy white vehicle roofs. With the possibility
of later day sunny bits, it could all turn around
fairly nicely. It is likely that the forecast may
keep the go/no-go indecisive group at home.

It also needs to be said that even though the odd’s
may be small, there is a chance that even at these
temp values, the precipitation at Summit elevations
could be snow.

Spring conditions are dynamic conditions in many different
ways. Changing weather sometimes permits expansion or
reduction in the Official open trail list and T360 absolutely
endorses the unique Tremblant Info.Ski Crews as the source
of Mountain Intel every single guest can use to optimize
everything from the next run to your entire day. This is
especially true when there is today’s such obvious weather
challenge.

Conditions Notes:

In the Groomed:

Clinically speaking, the initial phases of spring
skiing cycles with warm “damp” days can have
a considerable degree of technical excellence
as the lateral grip levels of soft, shallow top
layers typically can absorb very high applications
of turning energy, while the solid base below
remains entirely mogul resistant.

We have had some of the very best front-side
carving days in “damp” conditions, ever. Period.

In the Sous Bois/Hors Piste/Glades and Un-Groomed:

The Summit got down to -3 C overnight, so it will take
a few hours of rising temps to soften this group of trails
up and as Tremblant.ca has noted, you can expect progressive
openings as the Ski Patrol monitors the safety status they
deem to be necessary for public access. For that reason, we
do expect to see changes in the Official Open list as the
day progresses.

This Is NOT An “April Fools” joke...

As a starting point for your Tremblant Sous Bois adventures...

Above:
We are not sure what the actual depth is in this mid-Lowell
Thomas sector trail-side location is because the ski bindings
and brake assembly got jammed up in the vertical plunge and
could not be pushed any deeper. The substrates/strata below
have a very high density thickness and it’s just not possible to
get through it all with the blockages the ski bindings generate.
Some years these depths remain very powdery, but not this stuff,
it’s almost as thick as a brick. We estimate that what you see here
could maybe still have remainders around/in this zone at the
beginning of June.

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.
