For Best Results In Foggy Or Vision Challenged Conditions...

Weather Notes:

The cloud ceiling is very low and the Summit is so-far fully
cloud-fogged as a result. Throughout the recent 2 day
similar period the cloud particulate has been so fine,
as in small, that it has not been evident as a goggle
lens coating, however the flatness of the rather dull
light does warrant the use of yellow lens to help
restore contrast and topographical contour definition.

Conditions Notes:

It’s Saturday, the “Weekend”... it could be busy...

otherwise...

In The Groomed:

Continued excellence across the entire range
of Green/Blue/Black skill rated challenge. One
of the main features is the combination of
high degrees of forgiveness together with
virtually seamless connectivity between the
challenge levels which has meant easy and
natural progressions in working up in the
learning process.

In The Sous Bois/Hors Piste/Glades And Un-Groomed:

Here is V2 of our current “Proof Of Snow” as the basis
for the select(#) excellence you can find within this trail
group.

(#) The use of the word “select” is intentional
to indicate that while the overwhelming square
area is indeed excellent, there are specific zones
of significant additional challenge and hazard
that need legitimate Expert skills and slow,
cautious navigation to avoid rock, wood or
exposed icy base. These zones typically have
Ski Patrol hand posted signage and you should
take them with serious respect. Do not dare or
drag your Intermediate friends into any situations
that could compromise safety, be a responsible
mentor.

Generally:

Despite the warmth of the recent couple of days,
there have been 3 principle factors that have
facilitated high degrees of functionally much
colder, higher quality snow in the trail base.

1) Umbrella-like cloud cover. At Zero C, the
last thing winter snow needs is solar radiation.
The low ceiling cloud cover has shielded the
trail base from sun-baked thaw very, very effectively.

2) No-to-Low winds. This has been one of the most
remarkably wind-calm time periods at Tremblant
we can recall, ever. Standing quietly in the Sous Bois
there has been an etherial silence that you only
experience in the absolute stillness of your motion.
Warmth with wind is the physical equivalent of
pointing a blow dryer at the Mountain, so in the
calmness there has been that much less thermal
intrusion and it shows directly in the light dryness of
the Sous Bois top layers, despite Zero C daytime highs.

3) Tremblant was just, by about 10 Km’s, north
enough in Latitude to completely escape the
freezing rain that hit so much of the region
over the past 48 hours. We got only snow and
zero freezing rain on the Mountain and that
shows across the entire range of all open terrain
categories in the general excellence and preservation
of authentic winter snow conditions.

Please Note: First Weekend Of Season With Last Run @ 3:45 P.M.

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you “Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.
