1/7/10 Conditions

Gradually cooling a bit, but increasing Sun!

We start out with a not so difficult -8C and light to moderate winds from
the North-West or pretty much coming up the Mountain on Beauvallon.

Open Trail count at 75 this A.M. as Upper Nansen and upper
Beauvallon are still dedicated to race use.

For all those true Double Black Diamond experts, you will be
happy to see that there is snow making on Zig-Zag and
Vertige today, so it may not be too much longer before
those 2 come on-line.

A Significant Factor Benefits Tremblant:

For all those people out there that like to talk about the
"Weather", the following observation should be noted
(and we don't want to be accused of "speaking too soon”,
but the long range forecast appears to be support a very
stable, slightly below average temp trend), we have not
had any kind of significant thaw at all so far this season.
This is a VERY important factor in our favour this year,
particularly when it has been a less than ideal natural snowfall.

Basically, we HAVE NOT seen a significant thaw period that
we might normally see occur sometime in late December
(as we did last year, 08/09 season), or in January.
(There was one 12 hour +2C blip, but it was very minor.)
This is a huge benefit when there is less snow than you
would like to see, because obviously, you get to keep
what you have and additionally, the frost level gets to
work deeper and deeper into the Mountain which really
helps in the long term durability when it does eventually
come to Spring. Basically, the Mountain becomes a very
effective ambient cold storage facility.

Big, Big Bonus for both the Quality and Durability of our base.

Look at this Printable Copy of the Official Grooming and Trail
Status report. the amount of groomed terrain is not only
extensive in terms of the total open acreage, but the variety
of skill levels as well.

There will be very good carving conditions at Tremblant today.
Of course there could be the odd natural hazard too, so explore
the Mountain carefully to find the best lines and be sure to watch
your speed until you can verify the best areas to rip around on.

These people are smart, there should be great cruising off the Expo chair this morning.

We are very thankful for the overall quality of Tremblant's slopes.
Of course 10 feet of powder would be nice, but in the mean-time,
what we have is well prepared.
