For sure, it was very very firm and with obvious icy overtones
that are the natural consequence of going from +11 C, to -18 C
in hours, but when the default trail preparation is groomed smooth,
anything and everything is so much easier to navigate.
In the “Good Old Days”... a weather cycle of such extreme hot-to-cold
wet ’n warm to hard froze solid would/could affect the Mountain for weeks
or until the next big snowstorm.
Now, with the current logistical capability of grooming equipment,
the recovery starts literally overnight as you see above.
Weather Notes:
This is definitely what you’d call a “Cold Snap”.
but it ain’t gunna last long...

Conditions Notes:
In The Groomed:
Incremental refinement where the coarseness of the
particle size is noticeably reduced over the broad scope
of the range of freshly groomed trails.
Sharp, freshly well tuned edges are absolutely required
for optimized safe navigation. Period.
In The Sous Bois/Hors Piste/Glades And Un-Groomed:
As usual, this is the most sensitive trail group with this
recent weather profile, however a review of the Official
list below shows that there may be progress in some
safe re-open’s as indicated by the “progressive”
clock-timer icons. So, today we might, maybe, could
perhaps, possibly, go from “Closed” to “Open” on a
limited basis... maybe.
