After almost a month of development work...

Versant Nord/North Side Trail # 82, “Expo” Shown
As “Progressive” Open!

For all the rest of the Mountain...

Here’s our one-pic Groomed performance forecast:

Weather Notes:

Get all them layers out, because it’s...

Really Kkkkool, and after a few hours out with the wind component,
it’s going to seem really KKkkold.

Repeat X 3.

Conditions Notes:

In The Groomed:

Very good to very fine with overtones of softness due
to snowfall depths that take a couple or three overnight
grooming cycles to achieve optimal density. That softness
in not fully compressed loft may, depending on traffic
volume, generate eventual moguls and/or washboard
effects. The traffic really is a wild card though, it’s
Sunday, so typically the morning is busy, but things
usually begin to thin out just after noon. That could all
be different or early departures even more pronounced
today with the dropping temps.

Please Note:

Zones that were frontal wind facing may not have
as much accumulation to integrate and for that
reason may well be super smooth all day. Look
for patterns that suit your skills and abilities and
stick with them.

Looking forward, we expect to see substantial degrees
in optimized surface compaction, incrementally over
the next 3 days. It’s gunna be cold, but clinically, the
skiing should easily reach into the excellent zone.

In The Sous Bois/Hors Piste/Glades and Un-Groomed:

The Official snowfall total is 22cm’s but we can tell you
for a fact that there will be drift lines in the Sous Bois
that are over double that. There are 40cm’s drift lines
in base level parking lots, so out in the elevated contours,
those accentuated areas of drifting could easily develop
face-shot powder busting ridges. The wild card in this
scenario is drifting density because the new snow came
at just a couple of degrees below Zero C and had some
humidity thickness to it, but... it has been subjected to
a rapid temperature drop over the past 7 hours or so
and that may have cooked out and crystallized it in a
very common Mother Nature freeze-drying process.

It will be an interesting day of variable challenge
however fresh, deep, soft snow favours Expert
skill levels. Be safe, explore cautiously.
