As Snow-Filtered Fuzzy As It Is, That’s Exactly The Reason...

Absolutely Gorgeous, Authentic, Genuine, Cold-Formed
Cryogenic Pure Winter Snow.

The new snow over the previous new snow is a virtually
complete, deep blanket of squeaky-cold coverage and
when you walk on it, as the ball of your foot hinges over
the surface on each stride, it emits a large literal “Squeak”
that is only one, but a very distinctive mechanical property
of snow that is very dry and cold. Out on the trails, that
mechanical effect translates into superb control that makes
for an easy, very forgiving, maneuvering environment.

Due to convection, i.e., heat rises and cold sinks, the
cold sinks part has retained the intensity of the string
of minus 20’s C in the top layers while the air above
is much warmer and Mother Nature has simultaneously
added even 10cm's more on top just so we can have
fun with it all.

The end result is that you’re having so much fun that
you don’t even think about sensations of cool because
your brain is so overwhelmed by the sheer exhilaration
of the moment. The thrill of the fantastic skiing totally
eclipses all other feelings.

And... it’s not even all that cold out anyway as temps have
nicely risen into far more manageable ranges that most
folks have layers for.

In a sense, it’s like the best of both worlds because while
the atmospheric conditions are easier, the ski conditions
are still almost exactly the unique, incredibly fine performance
they were in the deep freeze.

Weather Notes:

Still cool, but not nearly as cool as it was in the cold-snap,
so yes, you’re going to need layers, but way, way easier to
do, and... with a relatively low wind component, together
with forecasted sunshine/solar heat, you will actually be
able to experience the solar heat part on quiet, safe, trail
side breaks.

We also think there may be stratified layers of atmospheric
warmer temperature inversions up over the trail network.
Currently in the adjacent Old Mt. T. Village, at elevations
on roughly the same level as the Flying Mile peak, the temp
is showing at -17 C.

Conditions Notes:

Generally:

Very dry, cold snow tends to have higher than average
friction levels in glide characteristics and what we
have now is typical in that regard. This quality
simultaneously elevates control and forgiveness
as positive performance elements in the skiing
experience.

Steeper pitches just seem easier, edges just don’t
catch as much and even the tracked up zones with
all the new snow piling up seem easy to blast through
without any unsettling disturbance to smooth forward
motion.

Plateaus and horizontal trail runouts need a bit of
skating action to keep speed across, and for all our
friends on Snowboards, you’ll want to pump the board
on the final pitches to build speed so you don’t have
to take a foot out to traverse those lesser slope angles.
For enhanced glide, base wax or coatings are helpful.

In the last 2 weeks we’ve gotten over 80cm’s, just
under 4 feet of fresh new snowfall, Not Counting
The Drifted Excess Benefits
, obviously that’s a huge
asset that increases quality in every trail category.
