The Stubborn Winter...

Cool That Just Won’t Quit.

What this pic does not show you is that as beautiful a
winter scene as it is, the temp is -17 C and you can hear
the wind howling over the Mountain in the distance like a
spooky ghost, where the wind is gusting up to around 50kmph
and generating a net wind chill values of down to -34C.

If you look closely at the building just above and to the left
of the walkers, you’ll see there was actually a spot of sunlight
poking through. These little patches of brightness were crossing
the scene in quickly passing flashes as the clouds and small gaps
of blue sky above were moving at the speed of a fast freight train.
You can see another sun-splash over the peak of the Flying Mile
sector, and just a tiny hint of blue sky in the upper right side of
the frame above the Mountain.

Totally Awesome Mother Nature Authentic Winter.

The last time the temperature was at or above Zero C,
at Tremblant was an extraordinary 48 days ago.

It is not a record, but it is over double the normal span
of typical thermal cycles at Tremblant(#), and... it is a
main reason for the exceptional overall quality in the
snow surfaces now.

As a historical weather data factoid, it is interesting to
note, and important to be reminded, that the 30 year
February daily high temp. average here at Tremblant
is -4C. Wow... we haven’t seen that in weeks, but it
feels like months.

(#) Eastern North American winters typically include
a “January Thaw”, or a “February Thaw” every 20 or
so days that consist of a Zero C up to +5 C
daily high temp period that may be anywhere from
1 to 4 days. These thermal cycles are totally normal
and may or may not include precipitation in any form
or for any duration during the individual events.

Conditions Notes:

In The Groomed:

Clinical excellence across roughly 97.257% of all
Green/Blue/Black rates skill levels. To be objective,
there are some tiny, tiny glitches that can/may get
exposed by either wind or concentrated traffic
patterns, however they are so small that if you have
well tuned gear you will maybe not find any, or they
will be negligibly small and virtually insignificant in
the overall front-side groomed skiing experience.

In The Sous Bois/Hors Piste/Glades and Un-Groomed:

All you need to know to understand these categories is that
we have, at February 18, 2025, as much snow on the ground
now, as the average seasonal total for the past 30 years.

That is not to say that there are not challenges or hazards,
but for genuine, experienced, Experts, all within the domain
of the most highly developed skill sets.
