There May Be Less Snow In The Trees,
But The Superb Snow On The Trails
Is Completely Intact.

The forecast says cloudy, but so-far there a rays of sunshine
and with the hourly temp profile raising as forecast, there will
soon be no snow in the trees, but... the cool in the surfaces
is not going anywhere, at least during todays Open hours.

Conditions Notes:

In The Groomed:

Initial dry and firm very high quality performance with
escalating sensations of spring as ambient warm air
begins to work on the very top layers. Control moves
that you perceive as traction, braking or lateral turning
energy for examples, should start easy and get easier
as the softness from rising temps enhances edging
performance in groomed slopes everywhere.

Due to what we call thermal momentum we forecast
that the surfaces will retain most of the cool winter
snow performance that we’ve had all along, so any
reference to warming is relative and we do not expect
any saturation to be evident except maybe at the very
bottom level of the last few vertical feet at the Sud/South
base level and towards last run.

Of course with this forecast, the whole picture is going
to change for tomorrow, but that is literally another day.

In The Sous Bois/Hors Piste/Glades and Un-Groomed:

There’s lots open and that means that there’s lots
of great fun with all the usual Expert level skills that
are designated by trail signage ratings.

Aspiring Sous Bois Intermediates need to be careful
in maintaining absolute speed control as warming
induced thickness in loose or tracked terrain can take
more muscle to steer in and any difficulties in steering
combined with gravity can produce undesirable outcomes,
especially where there may be “trees” in the equation.

The Ski Patrol hand posted signage needs to taken
with great respect by all users. If you are a legitimate
Expert and you have less experienced friends along,
either forerun or avoid Sous Bois zones as forgiveness
may not be predictable and consequently risk may be
elevated for those who do not yet have highly developed
skills and agile responsiveness.
