So-Far...
The Chill In The Hill Is Keeping Things Smooth.
Will that change today? We think not.

Weather Notes:
Like a day at the beach, however...
In the heat of the day, the wind will help us stay cool
but what we don’t like is that it is the physical equivalent
of pointing a blow dryer at an ice cube.
What you are seeing now is a contest between the forces of Mother Nature.
On one hand, you have the deeply embedded cold of
January and February in the mass of the Mountain that
due to convection, i.e., “cold sinks”, is acting as a stored
source of refrigerant, while on the other hand you have the
annual evolving rise in the spring temperatures of windy
ambient air masses, PLUS, direct solar radiation, acting
in combination to penetrate surfaces both loose and solid.
So-far, the cold side has held out remarkably well. All those
deep winter overnights at -25C for almost 2 months straight
have driven the frost way into the Mountain and for the time
being, generated amazing stability in all categories of groomed
and Sous Bois base characteristics.
But... it will not last forever, and...
Of course, Spring will eventually win, but in the meantime,
we’re hoping that we may see a bit of a flip backwards to
help extend durability in both the quantity and quality of
the remaining open terrain. It would not be the first time
we’ve seen hot weather in mid-March, followed by snow
storms later in the month and into early April.
-------------- 3.18.25 Global Continental Weather Factors Update: --------------
------------- 3.15.25 - North American Continental Weather Perspectives: --------------
We are re-running this one from 3.15 because
the upper left side graphic is directly relevant
to today and this seasonal time period.
Attention Park Fans!
This is just one sample of ongoing maintenance
that is continuous over the range of Tremblant’s
Park terrain and modules.
Regional Park fans have come to rely on this
quality for the thrills and fun of well designed
and well maintained features that can be found
every single day of the season.
Conditions Notes:
Please Note: The Sud/South P-1 Level Cabriolet lift
is off-line and shuttle service is in place to move
guests up to the Gondola loading zone.
In The Groomed:
The embedded chill in the hill is continuing to support
remarkable stability in the quality of the finished top
layers of the freshly groomed trails. One of the best
parts of that is that the cold underneath has so far
kept the soft top relatively shallow and in doing so
has made for enduring smooth, mogul resistance
on most surfaces. Take another look at the top photo
in this post for a pictorial reference to mogul resistant
smoothness. We think you’ll get that all day.
Today may represent part of what we might refer to
as the apex of the spring time sweet spot days of
combined full winter coverage with mild temps.
Throughout the days rather dramatic differences in
temperature, we expect that the surfaces are going
to enjoy a basic “Firm But Fast” character with evolving
degrees of shallow “Shred” as the heat works in past
the noon hour.
In The Sous Bois/Hors Piste/Glades and Un-Groomed:
Here’s where the promise of heat and reopen’s
simultaneously meet as “lumpy” with solid moves
to soft and “shred”.
There are a million wild cards, but all of them evolving
in positive ways for immediate use.
It is very important to understand the significance of
“immediate use” though, depending on future exposures
to common spring influences you will want to take advantage
of the current coverage as soon and as often as possible.
-------- March 15 to 19, 2025 Apres Ski Case Study Retrospective “Before/After” ---------
Sous Bois/Un-Groomed Evolving Case Study.
We have been surprised at the resilience of the Versant Nord/North Side
upper Sous Bois terrain ranges that have shown much less snow reserve
loss than we might have expected through the recent warm and rainy
weather. It is our theory that the deep cold in the Mountain and the
surface strata has carried forward a robust protective element of
preservation on a “so-far” basis.
Here are two pic’s at the very close to the same location at the
Summit entrance to trail # 65, Banzai, the first, "Before” being
from 3.15.25 and the second “After” from today, that illustrate
amazing similarities considering the intensity of the weather
between the 2 dates.

3.19.25.Nord.North.Banzai.Haut.Upper.Mogul.Views.d.jpg
The ability of this example of snow reserve for future duration
is not completely predictable, however the long range forecast
does show a return to lower temp ranges very soon and that
could certainly be considered a bit of an insurance factor. The
fact remains though, that we are approaching late March and
for best results getting out “sooner” is typically better than
getting out “later” if you want to enjoy the existing coverages.

Bring Back The Memories...
Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.
When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.
There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.
If you “Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.
